seriously, people dressing up their babies as elves and santas and hideous christmas jumpers that are going to be worn once or twice then binned? What a waste of 'stuff'.

YABU

God I'm a miserable bastard arn't I? Yes

RooRooTaToot · 27/12/2013 10:28

I need to learn to be as succinct as CrewElla Blush

Latara · 27/12/2013 10:36

Well at the pub I saw large groups of 20-and-30-somethings enjoying themselves in Xmas jumpers and Xmas deely boppers; they were happy so that's a good thing.

At work I wore my reindeer earrings and Xmas tree hair clips which the patients liked; other nurses wore Xmas hats and tinsel - it cheered up our patients a bit.

grumpyoldbat · 27/12/2013 10:37

Everyone is being do bah humbug, they're not doing anyone any harm. Oh and btw I don't own a onsie or a Christmas jumper and I didn't dress my dc up in fancy dress.

ExcuseTypos · 27/12/2013 10:45

Gosh its Christmas, and people are wear Christmas jumpers.

WTAF. Shoot the bastards.

NurseRoscoe · 27/12/2013 10:47

I dressed my 6 month old DS as an elf..it wasn't a waste of money, my mum and dad had a mug made with a picture of him on it, he looked adorable, it's just part of the memories.

Don't like it, don't do it. You feeling unsettled over something harmless that random people are doing which you have no obligation to join in with says more about you than others.

YABU

pumpkinsweetie · 27/12/2013 11:04

Op yabu, getting into these novelty get-ups is all part of the fun!
Get into the Christmas spirit, and join in you will love it!

In fact in wish my unborn baby had have made an early appearance so i could have dressed her in a santa dressSmile, but looks like she's waiting it out and comfy where she is!

Jengnr · 27/12/2013 11:15

My baby had various Christmas outfits, culminating in matching Dad and Lad Christmas jumpers on Christmas day. He looked gorgeous, was always comfortable in them and he made lots of people happy by looking so cute.

If other people don't like that that's up to them. But me and mine will continue as we have. Because we like it.

HerlockSholmes · 27/12/2013 11:18

I am posting wearing my new christmassy onesie. it was gifted to me and i love it- it's naice, comfortable and warm.

i would not wear it in public just as i wouldn't wear jammies in public.

christmas jumpers are all part of the festive season andi don't see why anyone would be bothered so much by other people wearing them- it's a once a year vit of fun.

you wouldn't festoon your house in glitter and sparkly baubles at any other time of year either, its juat for fun., or get offended by people having christmas trees/decs up even if you didn't partake yourself.

HerlockSholmes · 27/12/2013 11:19

oops. apologies for typos in my last post!

Pobblewhohasnotoes · 27/12/2013 11:20

My toddler was dressed as Father Christmas and looked very cute, and I wore a Christmas jumper. Couldn't give a shit if someone doesn't like it.

elQuintoConyo · 27/12/2013 11:24

Oh crap, it's supposed to be Christmas-themed fancy dress? I put 2yo DS in his pumpkin outfit yesterday Sad

comingintomyown · 27/12/2013 11:25

YANBU OP I think it's all a bit try hard but so is a lot of Christmas these days

mrsjay · 27/12/2013 11:32

both my children had santa babygros their first christmas Blush i thought they looked cute as if folk want to spend money on this crap then what harm are they doing, what I do hate in men in onsies it creeps me out grown men wearing things with ears

TiggyD · 27/12/2013 11:36

What's that fear called? Where people are scared that other people might be having fun?

Down with the OP! Santamas rocks!

isitsnowingyet · 27/12/2013 12:25

I saw a woman in a 'snow leopard' onesie this morning in Tescos. If you're reading this now - trust me, it's not a good look.

DizzyZebra · 27/12/2013 12:31

Right, im sick of wondering now and google seems to throw up different answers.

What the fuck does naice mean.

HoneyDragon · 27/12/2013 13:01

It's a naice way of saying nice.

In that special sort of posh accent that manages to make the word house rhymes with mice.

DizzyZebra · 27/12/2013 13:05

Oh, like when my northern friends imitate my accent (theyre shit at it).

PeriodFeatures · 27/12/2013 13:36

Sorry Herlock your onsie will not ever be naice! It will be a lot of things, bu not that!

putting dressing up costumes on babies is pure yuk. They don't find it funny so they're not included in the joke, which just makes me sad. And they look very uncomfortable

Roonerrs, thank you for being a lone voice of sanity in a world that has gone insane.

Seriously though, I dont remember these Christmas Jumpers and baby outfits being around until this year. This is a mARKETING PLOY to sell us more shit surely?

Those people who hAve decided I am joyless for finding it all a bit daft, did you have a joyless hole in your xmas that has recently been filled by psudo-ironic throwaway clothing? Is it better now? I continue to have a great time with a shit paper hat and loads or sparkly decorations, is my life somehow lacking? I am now having an existential crisis.

OP - I saw a woman marching around the supermarket on Christmas Eve. She had a face like thunder but was wearing a jumper that said "Ho Ho Ho" on it. I did snigger to myself Grin.

I can just about handle babies dressed up though. It's the grumpy tired old adults or the masses of ironic young things parading about in them that I find tiresome. Maybe by next year they will be out of fashion? Or the Christmas jumper thing might be like 'Movember' and just roll on forever more...

1974rach · 27/12/2013 14:04

I am sitting at work in my hideous christmas jumper. I wore it on Christmas Eve to the carols. OH has a particularly naff one, and clearly we are going to have to buy Vogue and GQ to inject a bit of sartorial elegance back into our lives.

Yes, I look like a prize div, but actually I couldn't give a stuff. It's made my work colleagues laugh, my niece thinks its cool and my nephew is impressed that his uncle has rudolphs bum on his tummy.

I can dress myself though and am happy to look ridiculous...not so sure I'd want my baby looking stupid though.

TiggyD · 27/12/2013 14:30

GrinchFeatures hated Christmas and anything jolly.
She tried to end all that she saw as a folly.
She took everyone's jumpers, their onesies and then,
She gave them all back and then took them again!

The GrinchFeatures hated fun. She detested it so
Because her heart was as cold as reindeer's fanjo.
She took down people's wreathes and twinkley bits
And Christmas tree lights: They got on her tits.

She took people's presents from chocolates to thimbles,
She took their cordwangles and shiney kerblimbles.
Soon the world was dark, lonely, no fun.
Then she said "Rotten Christmas and new year everyone!"

etc
