mine is a terrible cook so I'm going to make the gravy and stuffing and take it with us for lunch - much nicer that paxo and bisto!!!

Everyone is happy - no offence has been taken, mil accepts she is a crap cook and prefers to let me do it!

I can just imagine some of the mil's mentioned on this forum not being as happy!!!

My MIL was fab but seems to have lost the plot since PFBG arrived.

I totally believe these stories.

But I also totally believe I'm only hearing one side of them.

People are mean to each other all the time. Even blood relatives. Like I said, my husband has a horrible mother in law.

My mother is not a good mother. My MIL is not a good person.
We have arms length contact with one and have gone nc with the other. No one will ever convince me that was the wrong decision.

But to get around the both having shitty families thing (as in we aren't related to 'nice, normal, people') we seem to have absorbed lots of people into our family - a couple of ersatz MILs being one example. Works beautifully! We've already had a new years argument but it's nice to be close enough to do that.
We usually only hear one side of anything here but if the behaviour is bad enough sometimes there's barely any mitigation to be given, if it's 50/50 I think MIL is often supported and the op is advised to see the other side of things.
But as, probably Tee again, said you just don't come on here and say everything is grand. Just like relationshipsdoesn't mean there are only sshit men, these threads don't mean there are only MIL haters/evil MIls. It is what it is.

Well god help any poor woman that was a dil to my Mother. I would set up a support group for her . She would have ever reason to come on here and say "am I being unreasonable to really hate my mil"

The answer would be....NO.

My MIL is awful. I don't understand why some people are saddened or confused by MIL threads. There are a lot of nasty, vindictive, manipulative people in the world. It stands to reason that a percentage of them willl be MILs.
I'm nice and normal. I get on with many, nice, normal people. She's a witch. Even her own son barely tolerates her.

I am on my 3rd MIL (sort of).

So I think it must be me .
