AIBU to hate people using "ick" or "icky" as an adjective.

It is not on. Unless you are three years old.

Stop it.

AND which is it anyway? "Ick" or Icky" - stop interchanging them. At least be consistent.

Yes, yes I realise I have indulged in many a word hating/loving thread but so what?

I loathe 'boak'. Genuinely makes me feel sick. Ick is dune I think. The word 'discharge' should be outlawed apart from in medical consultations.

Binkybix · 22/12/2013 23:16

Dune = fine

ImperialBlether · 22/12/2013 23:18

I hate "I seem to have something in my eye" - why not just say, "That made me cry"?

Salmotrutta · 22/12/2013 23:21

"Team Anyone" is ridiculous.

Playground politics stuff.

I didn't even know "boom" was a thing?!

It should only be used when describing anything of an incendiary nature.

I dislike 'lurve' and 'luffs': just say love/loves. In fact, any kind of syrupy little girl talk is grim: I'm looking at you, Facebook people with your ickle pwincesses and gawjuss ickle men. Brr.

But I quite like "Are you on glue?" as a response. It works well at this time of year for a range of situations relating to my family.

I'm not bothered at all by 'my bad': it harks back to Buffy and other 90s wonderfulness, for me.

RodneyTheChristmasElf · 22/12/2013 23:23

I quite like most of the words on this thread which makes me think I may be the most annoying person on the planet.

Salmotrutta · 22/12/2013 23:23

Yes!

That's the key I think!

syrupy little girl talk

Which is what "icky" is!

OP posts:
Salmotrutta · 22/12/2013 23:24

Well, we always said that about you Rodney...

Salmo your "meal" thread was very awesome.

Cats are, indeed bastards. That pre-puke noise is terrifying, you can hear it all over the house but CANNOT find the bastard cat. You then find out that the cat puked in your work shoes, ick.

RodneyTheChristmasElf · 22/12/2013 23:26

Meh, you're weljel!

TalkieToaster · 22/12/2013 23:26

Boom, Boom, Boom, Boom,
Boom, Boom, Boom,
Boom, Boom, Boom, Boom,
Boom, Boom, Boom.

Such a talented poet, that Baldrick.

I also like:

Hear the words I sing,
War's a horrid thing,
So I sing sing sing...ding-a-ling-a-ling.

Team
Babes
Cheeky
Nom fucking nom.
Die die die you awful words.
(I like stabby though. And boom, because it annoys my daughter Smile)

CantaSlaus · 22/12/2013 23:49

My cat does a pre warning meow just before he spectacularly throws up everywhere. And apparently when he has diarrhea in my hallway. He did the meow but there was silence afterwards. I just had to go and investigate didn't I!

My colleague says THE most annoying phrase when talking. "Like and that". All the damn time! But I do luffs stabby.

Salmotrutta · 22/12/2013 23:55

My cats do a sort of "waaaaaooooowwww" noise when they are about to evacuate their bowels and need to be let outside Hmm

Nice.

How do you know that someone is saying 'gawjuss' rather than gorgeous ?

The word hamper is irritating the fuck out of me at the moment. All these Christmas Eve 'hampers' with 'pj's (another offender) and hot chocolate in them . Are they really actual hampers? Baskets with lids?

AdmiralData · 23/12/2013 00:18

Is there a link to this 'meal' thread? Coincidentally my former friend used to say 'I'm going for a meal' a lot and I wanted to stab her in the anus because she had a stupid fucking way of saying it.

BOOM!

I hate the use of boom. Unless you are saying it omomatopoeically (sp?).

hazel there is a company called Boom here in Qatar, they deal with organic waste and also cremation. That use being onomatopoeic does not bear thinking of!

LineRunner · 23/12/2013 05:10

I can't cope with adults saying 'my bad'. My OH, a man in his forties, uses it, and it has been necessary to call him a twat.

tinyturtletim · 23/12/2013 05:10

I hate the word fanny. It makes me feel quite sick.

Oh and, when people write 'discusted' I never pick up on spelling as I know some people struggle but this really gets to me. You don't pronounce it dis-cus-ted so why spell it that way?

Moln · 23/12/2013 05:16

Ick is fine, what is wrong is pop as a very. "I'll just pop to the shop". Oh will you now.

ILoveAFullFridge · 23/12/2013 07:35

You are all weird Wink Tthere's nothing wrong with words! Words are lovely and varied, each one giving a different flavour. I wouldn't bung the same seasonings in every dish. I don't like chilli, but its flavour enhances some foods, so I use it. Words are just like that.

"Moist, tasty gusset" is one of the funniest, most evocative phrases I have come across. Not that it would ever occur to me to use it!

winklewoman · 23/12/2013 07:44

"Pressies" makes me stabby, were it not for the fact that "stabby" makes me stabbier still.

DoesntLeftoverTurkeySoupDragOn · 23/12/2013 07:46

I despise "vair"

No it doesn't make you sound posh, it makes you look like an idiot.
