Genuinely, what is unreasonable.

We are invited to a Boxing Day party. It's in the evening so no kids, at a friend's house. The friend is pregnant, and by her own admission a bit tense, especially on all things "health". My DP smokes, heavily. He would of course go outside but the friend has indicated to a mutual mate that she cannot bear smoking of any kind, and even if people go outside she can still smell it. She doesn't want smoking in the garden either, which leaves rather a yomp down the drive.
DP is like the antichrist without tabs, and I think will be extra tense and make us leave early. I can't decide who is being unreasonable - he's nearly 50 and can do what he wants, but it's her house!
Who is BU, if anyone?

He's already decided to have a miserable time regardless really, hasn't he?

I really don't think a BYO, please don't smoke party is either that bad or that unusual. Her house, her decisions, and neither of them are particularly awful.

What a bad mannered hostess, why one earth is she bothering? Very rude to dictate to guests. Leave the poor guy at the pub, he'll be miserable at such a perry.

Party. Autocorrect hell.

Honestly buy him a new E-cig. He can use that indoors, problem solved Xmas Smile

youretoastmildred - I haven't had a fag for well over 10 years but I want to vape. So badly. tell me not to

Don't do it mildred!

Seriously, I can rave on about vaping until the cows come home because it's bloody marvellous ... compared to smoking. If you have successfully conquered your nicotine addiction you really don't want it back in any form.

Well done, by the way Flowers

I think as it's her house, it's her rules tbh.

By all means, cater for guests, but your husband would be being a bit U if he wasn't prepared to go for a cigarette well out of smell-reach.

When I was pregnant with DS, the smell made me retch completely every time, even if it was on someone's clothes!

I think she is being a bit OTT but he sounds a bit silly too. I would say best he stays home. She doesn't feel sick, he can smoke himself silly and you don't have to worry about any potential clashes.
