First time I've ever seen it. Fucking freaky-looking people!

DC are transfixed though.

I think we really enjoyed it.

We love the Polar Express. We watch it every Christmas Eve Eve, with takeaway pizza and then hot chocolate.

I've only seen bits of it, but it seemed very odd and it wasn't keeping the assembled DC quiet either.

Soup it is our Christmas Eve tradition too,with an open fire and a drop of Baileys....

I couldn't warm to any of the characters. I really didn't enjoy it. However it is the only film ds has sat through and I am grateful for that.

I really don't like it either. Freaky characters, not quite real enough but nearly, it's just odd.

Its the whites of their eyes. Not quite white enough. More a jaundicey yellow.

There is evil lurking in their flat dead eyes.

but...my youngest has since seen it a couple of times and now sits still so it does a job [grudgingly]

The book is AMAZING. Sadly it did not translate well to film at all.

Yanbu. DS has the DVD but doesn't love it. I think it's awful. Boring, long and a bit unsettling.

I don't like it either and find the characters unsettling.

I don't like the animation in this film - if they are going to go to so much effort to make the characters "lifelike", why not just use real actors. The animated characters actually look really weird and freaky, not cute like in disney films.

I like it. It's exciting and adventurous and I think it looks great. The bit where the train slid across the ice and then went up and down the tracks like a roller coaster had my dc's on the edge of their seats. I'm going to watch it every year!

I'm torn on the Polar Express, all the Ds's love it - and I love that song "when Christmas comes to town" - I always cry at that bit but I know what you mean about the weird animation, it does kind of freak me out!

I used to like it until dd2 decided it was her favourite film. Its appeal wears off when you are still watching it in May.

DS fell asleep. I was trapped under him. It was on but I wasn't watching but every time I glanced up it looked malevolent

I agree the characters are weird looking but the scenery and the music are beautiful...and I think the story's a good one.

It is wierdly flat, theirv expressions, the dialogue everything. It depresses the hell out of me and the elves look evil.

And I love, love, love Christmas films.
