Periods just returned after a long time pregnant then breast feeding and I now find my old failsafes stink. I have bought a new pack of "simply fits" which don't seem to be as obnoxious as I was convinced the smell was so vile that someone would comment on it! Where has this idea come from and does anyone think it's a good one?

I forwarded a similar thread to Always a few months back. The shelves in my local Boots are still full of rank-smelling products so it did no good. I have no idea who thought they were advisible.

I've switched over the Boots Cottons. Non-scented and more comfortable than Always too.

EdithWeston · 13/12/2013 20:01

They'll lose out in the long run.

For who would buy towels with potential irritant for their DDs at menarche? And once settled with a different brand, why would they change (unless scent added)?

Tinks42 · 13/12/2013 20:02

I hate them full stop, scented or not, horrible chaffing things. I also hate tampons, actually anything to do with periods! Waiting for mine to completely stop. Luckily I just spot and wipe these days Smile

JumpingJackSprat · 13/12/2013 20:03

I switched from always which I had used for about 15 years to bodyform because of this - lo and behold they are cheaper, softer, and more absorbent, yet are thinner and don't sound like a nappy when you have just put one on.

ZeViteVitchofCwismas · 13/12/2013 20:04

No I dont like them and nor can I find any decent towels either they are all so thin and dont work Angry what has happened to them Confused

bundaberg · 13/12/2013 20:06

the problem is that we are mere women. we do not know what we like or need.

thank goodness for the men at always who know that we need perfumed fanjos.

Hmm
oohdaddypig · 13/12/2013 20:07

I switched to boots own brand - way cheaper and no insinuation that my fanny stinks!

Always must be regretting their decision to perfume their towels - everyone hates it.

catgirl1976 · 13/12/2013 20:08

Nope

I would worry about allergies and as I shower daily my fanjo is fresh as a daisy.

TheCrackFox · 13/12/2013 20:08

They give me horrific cystitis.

Also, they smell like toilet cleaner. Why would anyone want to smell of toilets?

WorrySighWorrySigh · 13/12/2013 20:08

I like them

Mrsden · 13/12/2013 20:09

I've stopped using always because of the smell and have switched to a shops own brand. I can't think why they thought women wanted to smell like loo cleaner.

DawnOfTheDee · 13/12/2013 20:09

I think I'm going to wear them all the time to be extra-super sure that I don't offend anyone with my nasty smelly vagina.

FryOneFatChristmasGoose · 13/12/2013 20:10

Thing is, I can quite often smell a floral towel when someone's wearing it (body warmth making the smell even stronger) and you can tell it's that floral scented sanitary towel because the perfume is so shite . It's a massive giveaway that a woman is on her period.

So, far from helping a woman be discreet, they may as well have a bell round their necks Grin

Binkyridesagain · 13/12/2013 20:11

Do you think they misunderstood Lady Garden?

MrsCakesPremonition · 13/12/2013 20:13

It is odd that women will spend a small fortune choosing their perfume and layering it with other body lotions etc. only to slap an overpoweringly smelly pad in their pants to spoil the careful effect.

PetiteRaleuse · 13/12/2013 20:14

When pantyliners came out they were seen as a gimmick. But a whole generation of women were convinced that natural normal discharge needed to be dealt with. The next generation will be convinced that they smell.

It's worrying, but I worry more what they will think of next to give us thrush and complexes.

loveandsmiles · 13/12/2013 20:15

worry. I like them tooSmile

Use Carefree Fresh panty liners daily and smell fresh as a daisyGrin

merrymouse · 13/12/2013 20:15

I stopped using Always because of this. Can't understand why they are still selling them - have they got a massive amount of stock that they want to clear?

WaxyDaisy · 13/12/2013 20:16

I just got my first period since DC4, and after close to a decade of breastfeeding in which I've averaged one period a year, I'm now facing the horror of monthly periods for the 15 years or so until menopause

I too bought some Always, as I used them regularly pre-DC, and and thought WTAF?! I've dabbled with a mooncup for the odd period I have occasionally had since DCs, but this time have found it uncomfy/itchy, so after one day have switched to reusables, which are ace.

Massive thumbs down to Always from me. I won't be suggesting my three DDs use any stinking pads when the time comes either Angry.

IndigoTea · 13/12/2013 20:18

I like them

happyyonisleepyyoni · 13/12/2013 20:18

I accidentally bought some Always pads last month, and yeuch.its not just the smell, they are so plasticky too. they make me really itchy.vile. Bodyform seem much better

Binkyridesagain · 13/12/2013 20:19

Scratch and sniff

TeWiSavesTheDay · 13/12/2013 20:22

They're horrible. Made me really itchy when I stopped using the massive pregnancy brick towels post childbirth! Thanks Always, just what I really needed when I was already tired and sore.

Quite impressed with bodyform as well in my quest for non-scented towels.

Methe · 13/12/2013 20:24

Those who have said you like them..... Why?

Pobblewhohasnotoes · 13/12/2013 20:26

I don't want thrush so I don't use them.
