To feel just a little bit saddened by this?

I saw something that actually made me feel really quite saddened at lunchtime today.

There was a baby (no more than about 6 months) which could barely sit unaided (head kept lolling from side to side etc.) which was propped in a high chair using blankets to keep it upright. It was literally being force fed a MacDonalds cheeseburger, despite its screams.

Sad

How do you force feed a cheeseburger to a baby?

MummyofIsla · 11/12/2013 19:27

You hold it and stuff it into their face until they take a "bite", she then proceeded to cut it into tiny chunks and shove those into its mouth. Its a wonder it didn't choke to death.

Yabu. It's a cheeseburger. They're tiny now. Two bites and they're gone. A Big Mac would be a real issue. Grin

Some people really shouldn't breed Sad

propertyNIGHTmareBEFOREXMAS · 11/12/2013 19:29

Bet it had coke in a bottle too.....

gordyslovesheep · 11/12/2013 19:30

why would anyone buy a baby a cheese burger????

Chicken nuggets are for babies - everyone knows that!

LaurieFairyCake · 11/12/2013 19:31

Look if you're going to go into a McDonald's instead of having a sneaky burger from the drive through you are going to meet riff raff Wink

MummyofIsla · 11/12/2013 19:31

Couldn't see what was in its bottle as it was opaque (didn't stop me trying to see!)

ImAn I know its just a cheeseburger (even the Big Macs are small these days Sad) but as the mum of an 18 month old I guess its because I know how easy it is to bring something for a baby.

Haha Laurie its an open plan seating area, I was there having my baked potato Grin

NotAnotherStuffedTurkey · 11/12/2013 19:35

It was probably screaming because it wanted a happy meal with the choke hazard toy instead. Grin

GobbySadcase · 11/12/2013 19:57

Baked potato? In Maccy Ds? Not heard of the McSpud ...

roweeena · 11/12/2013 20:00

This thread is making me hungry

Queenofthedrivensnow · 11/12/2013 20:02

Yanbu. The fact they have high chairs in there makes me itch.

MummyofIsla · 11/12/2013 20:06

Ha no its one of those ones in a mall where there are lots of different places that share a seating area, it was a Spud u Like Grin

Queen- why? We have taken DD to McDonald's a few times. The first time she was only around 6-7 months. We didn't actually give her anything to eat, but it sure was nice to have a highchair to sit her in.

The second time we took her she was about 8 months, we had breakfast so we bought her a pot of porridge.

When she's a little older (she's 1 now) I might take her for lunch. I'm waiting till she has enough teeth to be able to eat the carrot sticks they do instead of fries. I figure the fish fingers will be fine for her, even if they are fried, as a one off it won't do much harm, surely. I might even let her drink a fruit shoot!

Spaulding · 11/12/2013 20:14

I'm not a health nut by any means. DS is almost 3, has chocolate, crisps every now and then. But I think he's too young for a McD. I find the burgers really salty so I don't think he'd like it too much and while he's still happy to eat something else when we're out and about then I see no need to take him to McD. Maybe it's because I'm not a huge fan myself. Although their breakfast wraps are bloody lovely.

MummyofIsla · 11/12/2013 20:17

The salt in any MacDonalds food is shocking, DD won't be getting it for ages yet.

You only have to look at any of the meat before its cooked to see its appalling quality .

What were you doing in such a 'hood?!

MummyofIsla · 11/12/2013 20:21

As I said, getting myself my baked potato. I'm by no means stuck up about this kind of thing, having just left Uni I pretty much survived on junk food for the last 4 years but I just don't see the need to feed a baby such crap, especially where there are other things available in the same place.

OP posts:
GobbySadcase · 11/12/2013 20:34

Admit it.
You were having a duuuuuuurty burger weren't you?

expatinscotland · 11/12/2013 20:38

Why that is queer, I just Googled McDonald's UK menu, as it is standardised. No baked potatoes . . .

TheMuppetsSingChristmas · 11/12/2013 20:44

And the prize for not reading the thread properly goes to Expat! OP was in a shared seating area and was dining at a Spud U Like!

expatinscotland · 11/12/2013 20:46

And? Read enough to know it sounds totally made up, anyhow.

AnAdventureInCakeAndWine · 11/12/2013 20:46

. . . and if you read the thread, expat, you'll see that the OP bought her baked potato in Spud U Like and was sitting in a shopping centre food court.

expatinscotland · 11/12/2013 20:48

I was too busy watching MasterChef The Professionals.

Still sounds completely contrived.

Adam, on the other hand, has totally cocked up on MasterChef tonight.
