To think the new squeezy bottles of Hellmans are shit

Is it only me that finds the new squeezy bottles of Hellmans completely shit?

After about half way down the just seem to suck air in, crush inwards and refuse to dispense any mayo.

Rant over!

catsmother - Aldi do flavoured ones. Garlic, Mustard and Chilli. They also do loads of flavoured ketchups.

Effjay · 10/12/2013 20:20

Agree .. totally annoying and rubbish, especially when trying to do tuna and sweetcorn mayo for baked potatoes. Hand got cramp and had to take top off (not a big problem in the grand scheme of things, but irritating none-the-less)
Over-engineered piece of sh*te and not dissimilar to the dish-washer basket in my Bosch dishwasher that drives me NUTS, but that's a subject for another day

Timeforabiscuit · 10/12/2013 20:34

Usually buy Aldi squeezy mayo - no problems

Thought I 'd splurge on Helmans squeezy - NEVER AGAIN FECKING USELESS

It weeps, then spits, then you have to do a half shake and gentle squeeze manoeuvre to tease the mayonnaise out - IT WAS SUPPOSED TO BE MAKING IT EASIER!!

catsmother · 10/12/2013 20:36

Thanks Scarlett - will have to check Aldi out next time I'm near one (closest is 12 miles away).

ZombiePenguin · 10/12/2013 20:39

YANBU.

They're crap.

MoreThanChristmasCrackers · 10/12/2013 20:43

Totally agree. It took ages to make family their sarnies today, one squirt then a fart sound. Even taking the lid off doesn't help.
I bought a glass one last shop, so will hack at whats left in this bottle and never again. Grin

TheGinLushMinion · 10/12/2013 20:45

YANBU, utter shite.

Will try the Aldi one.

pippop1 · 10/12/2013 20:46

Oooh. I'm glad you said that I thought it was just mine. I refused to buy another one as it looked as if there was loads left. I just couldn't get it out and the bottle was all squeezed in on itself and wouldn't stand up in the fridge door. I'm going to try Aldi, a new one opens in two days near us apparently.

mrsjay · 10/12/2013 20:46

Yanbu i had a mayo fight with dh the other week squeezy bottle was on special offer probably cos they are shit and i wanted the jar I had to put 2 botles back a few times, they do my head in and you need to take the top off to get the rest out, a jar is much better

choccyp1g · 10/12/2013 20:48

Yup, they are CRAP

ScarletLady02 · 10/12/2013 20:48

I swear Aldi should pay me the amount I recommend them to people.

All their stuff is AWESOME!

SauvignonBlanche · 10/12/2013 20:50

I hate the new Hellman's too, will try the Aldi one, they open near me this week.

StealthPolarBear · 10/12/2013 20:50

YANBU. I bought them a few times, then realised it wasn't just me being stupid and I've never bought them again. They are always cheap.

ICallHimMaxForShort · 10/12/2013 20:51

When they fall out of the fridge door the crappy oversized lid breaks and then they won't stand up.

StealthPolarBear · 10/12/2013 20:52

how did this stuff get past testing? I'd love to know.

mrsjay · 10/12/2013 20:52

door the crappy oversized lid breaks and then they won't stand up

that

ICallHimMaxForShort · 10/12/2013 20:53

I usually end up sawing squeezy bottles in half with my bread knife to scrape out the last bit. Have been known to do the same with tubes of foundation too.

tshirtsuntan · 10/12/2013 20:53

Hellmans bottles are crappy, always bought it by default until the new bottles came out, tried lidls one and it's very nice, even comes out ridgey a bit like primula Grin

Bearbehind · 10/12/2013 20:54

I reckon the testing thing is because they don't bother squeezing to the end of the bottle.

I'm glad it's not just me- not one person has disagreed so they must truly be shite!

YANBU

pippop1 · 10/12/2013 20:55

I like the idea of a squeezy bottle and they seem to manage it with ketchup. Is mayo inherently too thick to be in a squeezy bottle? (or is it just the designers of the bottle)

mrsjay · 10/12/2013 20:55

oh cook at work uses lidls mayo yes it is ridgy I usually play with it squirt it in a bowl for people Grin

KnitActually · 10/12/2013 20:56

MNHQ can you sort this out and get Hellmans to ditch the squeezy bottles?

(see how far I think your powers stretch)

ChutesTooNarrow · 10/12/2013 20:59

I product tested them and said they were crap in my feedback. I have never had one that hasn't kamikazied out the fridge and shattered the lid into a thousand pieces.

KnitActually · 10/12/2013 21:00

worst bit was when trying to get mayo to the lid by shaking it and ending up with mayonaise on the walls Xmas Blush
