I'm just wondering what everyone else's costs roughly are, for how many people and whether this includes lunches?

OP posts:
mumToOne33 · 10/12/2013 17:49

About £35 pw at Waitrose for me and dd (2yo) includes all meals, toiletries etc. We don't eat meat so save a lot of money that way.

DrinkFeckArseGirls · 10/12/2013 17:49

I'm in London and it's £120 per week for us two. Includes little treats, well necessities to me as we put and about a lot so not always can take home prepared snacks.

DrinkFeckArseGirls · 10/12/2013 17:51

It does include petrol sometimes and always all toiletries, cleaning products, etc. so actual food probably less.

LambinsideaDuckinsideaTrout · 10/12/2013 17:51

Hmmm, don't really keep track but I would think around £90 a week for two adults and one toddler.

We like meat, and I like to buy free range and organic wherever possible.

It includes packed lunches for DH everyday he works which is on a 4 days on 4 days off basis.

LambinsideaDuckinsideaTrout · 10/12/2013 17:52

To be fair I don't spend that all at the supermarket either, I use the local shops a lot.

LambinsideaDuckinsideaTrout · 10/12/2013 17:54

That doesn't include alcohol for DH, (he buys his own) I don't drink alcohol.

Rufustherednosedreindeer · 10/12/2013 17:55

2 adults, 3 children

Over £100, that does not include all lunches or dinners as we probably have one of each out of the house. Unless I am feeling very lazy, in which case it may be more

It does include shampoo, washing liquid etc

I also do little top ups during the week but probably no more than £10 on bread and fresh stuff

I do have a very (over) stocked cupboard. Not so much freezer as that's very small

BobaFettTheHalls · 10/12/2013 17:57

£30-40 (higher atm as we're buying formula for DS2), 2 DS (2yr old and a 4m old) & 2 adults.
Included lunches, neither of us drink, it's gone up as DS1 is eating more.

I batch cook everything we eat (aside from breakfast).

ThatLightbulbMoment · 10/12/2013 17:58

roughly £40-£60 per week for myself, dp and 3 children. we don't drink and buy value for alot of things, not out of necessity though

ThatLightbulbMoment · 10/12/2013 17:59

oh and that includes lunches for me and dp and the baby

missinglalaland · 10/12/2013 18:04

£150/week
2 adults, 2 primary school children
Includes husband's packed lunches, all food, toiletries, sundries (batteries, light bulbs, etc.)
I bake from scratch, batch cook and freeze, etc. I find it hard to keep the cost this low. Blush

We eat 99% of our meals at home. We never do takeaways.

Tailtwister · 10/12/2013 18:06

I've never added it up but I'm guessing probably around £150 per week. We get a veg box every 2 weeks, so alternate weeks would be £120.

We're forever popping in for this or that though, so in reality I would imagine it's more than that. DH tends to pick stuff up on the way home too.

MrsDavidBowie · 10/12/2013 18:11

About £200 a week, 2 adults and 2 teens. Includes packed lunches for everyone, toiletries etc.
We never have takeaways, dh and I eat out about 3 times a month but that isn't included in the £200.

Fruit bill alone is probably over £30 a week.

roweeena · 10/12/2013 18:17

How are you all doing it? I spent £80-90 per week plu £15 at butchers - 2 adults, 2 kids under 2 though who are both in nappies. No processed food though except for the odd fishcake. I meal plan and don't think I shop excessively - love meat though!

How do you do it on £50?

ZombiePenguin · 10/12/2013 18:19

I'm in London and order online, so I don't think I get affected by where I live tbh.

ohtanmybum · 10/12/2013 18:23

On average over the whole year around £50.00 weekly for me (+1 at weekends) and three cats. That is food, household and personal care items. I shop at Aldi, Lidl, Budgen, Home Bargains, Supersaver, farm shops, local markets, all meat from butcher, organic milk delivered.

Audilover · 10/12/2013 18:26

About £110 on our weekly shop and about £10 on a top up shop on either tues or wed so about £120 all in per week.
That's for 2 adults plus a 17, 13, 11, 10 and 9 year old.
We all have packed lunch Monday-Friday

Oblomov · 10/12/2013 18:27

£125 approx.
2 adults , 2 primary school ds's ( who eat like horses)

loveolives · 10/12/2013 18:32

About £120 a week, 2 adults, 2 children

NoAddedSuga · 10/12/2013 18:34

£130 a week, 2 adults, one toddler. Includes everything

foreverondiet · 10/12/2013 18:35

Probably around £100 in tesco, plus £20 in veggie box, and meat is from local butcher so extra. 2 adults and 3 kids (10, 7 and 3). Kids have school lunches but DH and I take food to work for lunch. In London suburbs.

We eat very little processed food - so everything is made from scratch, including bread, although do buy cereal for the kids - I buy value veg / chopped tomatoes / apple juice. We are very careful not to waste food, but could probably cut back on some things if we really wanted to. Would never buy berries out of season but don't mind spending money on organic flour to make healthier bread. often buy stuff on offer.

dustarr73 · 10/12/2013 18:35

Its much cheaper now i only have 1 in nappies. But €150 is what i really need to spend.3 adults 1 17 year old who eats more than teh entire household and 3 kids.I do a big shop once a month and buy loo rolls, toilet paper and washing powder.I buy that all on special offer.
Some weeks i still need a top up.

herladyship · 10/12/2013 18:45

FannyFifer · 10/12/2013 18:52
