Dilemmas involving texting tattoos to married men? BFFs? Angry Facebook defriendings? Lolling?!

OP posts:
PeriodFeatures · 06/12/2013 11:51

If I post on AIBU I would like people to call me a twat if i'm being a twat. I would like a bit of acerbic wit to slap me into shape, I don't want people to be nice and respectful.

It is a sobering thought, Mardy, that we know what a penis beaker is but not a dummy clip.

T100 · 06/12/2013 11:54

What's the difference with lo and dd? I think darling or dear daughter sounds a hell of alot more twee than little one.

LineRunner · 06/12/2013 11:56

PeriodFeatures, yes to the acerbic wit. More of that would be welcome.

Lately though it's just endless posts in the style of 'You are wrong because I say so', and that's really bloody boring.

LineRunner · 06/12/2013 11:59

I always think of DD and DS etc like chemical symbols. I don't say the actual words in my head.

LO, though - for some reason I do think 'little one' - immediately followed by a little cringe.

I know it's odd, but I do.

T100 · 06/12/2013 12:04

I write dd or ds but cringe at the darling and dear part. Little one sounds more matter of fact to me.

BigFatGoalie · 06/12/2013 12:06

Baby Dancing.
I just vomited a bit in my mouth... Confused

GodRestTEEMerryGenTEEmen · 06/12/2013 12:08

No judging, no laughing, no having fun.

Life is serious, didn't you know?

Golddigger · 06/12/2013 12:23

Everyone is getting younger, even those that work at headquarters apparently.

I like it that the younger generation seem nice and softer.
My DD hugs people all over the place. And so do her friends.

BigFatGoalie would 'baby gravy' or 'baby juice' help you bring it all up? (sperm btw)

I agree a little with plinky and Liney - I don't however automatically respect someone for being a human - if they behave like a twat

I really dislike people who post on AIBU saying 'ohhh OP don't post THAT here you will get no help and everyone will be vile' - it's really unnecessary and goady

I also don't need to be treated with kid gloves - I call a twat a twat Grin

LineRunner · 06/12/2013 14:50

I think it's ok to take people down on AIBU as long as it's done with wit and flair.

MardyBra · 06/12/2013 14:56

"I think it's ok to take people down on AIBU as long as it's done with wit and flair."

I think that should be added to the talk guidelines.

HomeIsWhereTheGinIs · 06/12/2013 15:02

Oh plinkyplonk, how depressing. This isn't a therapy session, it's a forum and whilst yes, there are certain areas where people obviously go looking for some support, things like AIBU should surely be places for a bit of banter?

I tried to start a lighthearted thread a while back asking for sunny smug stories and every third poster told me off. When it gets to the point that writing "lighthearted" in the title means nothing because people still get preachy, then we are becoming NM.

For God's sake, we are not all alike and it's ok to be bitchy and honest about your opinions. I'm so tired of having to read through massive disclaimers every time anyone wants to say anything:
"I want to rant about my carrot today. Let me start by saying that obviously I'm very glad to have a carrot at all, I know that loads of people would give their right arm to have a carrot and I don't want to upset anyone by talking about my carrot in a derogatory fashion.."

Bollocks. When did we all become so fragile?

HomeIsWhereTheGinIs · 06/12/2013 15:04

periodfeatures and linerunner I couldn't agree more. Happy to be pushed back - and wit and flair should be the order of the day!

Mind you, I've just come across all PO on a so called "light-hearted" thread.

Am losing the plot.

AnythingNotEverything · 06/12/2013 15:11

Bugger. Is LO not allowed? It's really useful for when I forget the gender of the OP's child.

MardyBra · 06/12/2013 15:12

Can't you just say child?

SauceForTheGander · 06/12/2013 15:13

As long as it's still more acceptable to say cunt than hubby then I'm happy to call myself a mumsnetter.

But enough of all the lolling and LOs and hubby and bubbas and x - It's the vocabulary of a One Direction fan. It makes me imagine you're 12 and you've run off with your mum's ipad and you're pretending to be a grown up.

HaroldTheGoat · 06/12/2013 15:13

AIBU got ridiculous at one point though, people were just being absolute arseholes to the OP and not even in a constructive or remotely witty way.

I think it's improved a bit?

Although I did witness a jokey OP about stabbing a husband with a fork compared to joking about the holocaust on the weekend.

People can't even be a bit offended anymore, they have to bring a genocide in.

LineRunner · 06/12/2013 15:14

Yes, Mardy, yes you have. You are fanning yourself over the very idea of light-hearted theft, aren't you? Eh? Eh? Grin

LineRunner · 06/12/2013 15:15

Actually I may have to over there and tease you.

MardyBra · 06/12/2013 15:17

I just find it very amusing as a concept, I suppose linerunner
