Should leave the coffee shop rather than try and pacify him for this last 10mins - my head hurts - how are they enjoying this? I always left coffee shops when my kids kicked off.

You really think they should leave? Hmm

BuggerLumpsAnnoyed · 24/11/2013 18:11

Good for you Hmm you sound great

Snowbility · 24/11/2013 18:13

I do - they are making a terrible noise!

NorthernLurker · 24/11/2013 18:14

Where are they supposed to go? Outside in the dark will be even worse to try and calm the baby. No I shouldn't think they are enjoying it much. If you want coffee in peace stay at home. That would probably be a public service if you're always this grouchy tbh.

formerbabe · 24/11/2013 18:14

I usually keep tranquilizer darts in my handbag for this sort of situation ;)

hazeyjane · 24/11/2013 18:14

TheXxed · 24/11/2013 18:15

Its so cold outside I don't know how adding that dimension in would help pacify a screaming baby

YourHandInMyHand · 24/11/2013 18:16

YANBU. I've been a baby. I've had a baby.

I am also a considerate member of society. I am aware people sat in coffee shops have spent money in there to have a bit of down time, and probably don't appreciate a baby screaming for 10 minutes. I have left cafes and restaurants with a screaming baby or a misbehaving toddler because it's the considerate thing to do.

Snowbility · 24/11/2013 18:16

At last they have stopped- all 3 children are eating chocolate lollies - silence is joyful!

Seriously am I the only one to seriously be irked by screaming kids? I guess I must be unreasonable. Grin

OP posts:
SoupDragon · 24/11/2013 18:16

how are they enjoying this?

They probably aren't enjoying it.

formerbabe · 24/11/2013 18:16

In all seriousness though, you are in a coffee shop, not at a performance at the Royal opera house!

HyvaPaiva · 24/11/2013 18:18

No one said you were unreasonable to be 'irked' - you said they should leave and that's what made you unreasonable.

ShoeJunkie · 24/11/2013 18:18

I'm guessing they're not enjoying it much and you hoisting up your judgy pants won't be helping. Hmm

RegainingUnconsciousness · 24/11/2013 18:18

My DS screamed everywhere for the first year 4 months.

If you think you're annoyed by it, imagine how much the poor mother will be wanting to tear off her own skin rather than endure the fingers-down-blackboard feeling the screams of your own, inconsolable offspring induce.

Buy her a hot chocolate and pull faces at the baby. Distractions often helped.

Snowbility · 24/11/2013 18:19

I'm at centre parcs there's no internet access at home! I'm guessing the kids are tired and should be getting ready for bed rather than making horrible noises in a coffee shop.

OP posts:
noblegiraffe · 24/11/2013 18:19

I'd have given up and taken my screaming baby elsewhere too. Isn't that the considerate thing to do Confused

Snowbility · 24/11/2013 18:20

By baby I meant 2 year olds - twins I think screaming in unison. I have been there but I never felt anyone else should have to listen to it.

OP posts:
NorthernLurker · 24/11/2013 18:22

Ready for bed? It's 6.20 not 9.20.

Snowbility · 24/11/2013 18:23

Well given I'm irked I'd like them to leave - I'm not chucking evils at them and they have every right to be in here it's just the noise is annoying - especially when I'm meant to be having a few child free minutes to myself.

OP posts:
Snowbility · 24/11/2013 18:24

Don't 2 year olds go to bed at 7.00pm - mine always did!

DurhamDurham · 24/11/2013 18:24

You are in Center Parcs, the place is full of babies and children. I would suggest you go somewhere more grown up ( Warner Holidays where children are not allowed springs to mind) if you mind that much!!

Nanny0gg · 24/11/2013 18:25

OP - YANBU.

At all.

CoffeeTea103 · 24/11/2013 18:25

Yanbu

ineedanexcuse · 24/11/2013 18:25

YA so NBA but there is a raft of folk on here who think everything that emanates from small people is a joyful experience for all who come into contact with it.

You therefore must not be annoyed by any sights, smells or noise from anyone under the age of 12 and to publicly show any annoyance proves that you are in fact the devil incarnate. Or something.

The rest of us sympathise with you and also usually with the parent of the noisy ones. Often we can put ourselves in their place as we have been there before .Of course being there before meant we actually thought about other people and went outside with the screamer or found a way of quietening them.

But then again us oldies are also the devil incarnate.

SirChenjin · 24/11/2013 18:25

Centre Parcs and you're complaining about a crying baby? Confused You're holidaying in the wrong place OP!

YABU.
