To expect to find a whole new wardrobe for dd?

I have tried everywhere and I can't find anything at all that she really desperately needs.

She is 9, quite tall, but is developing and has small hips a bit of puppy fat and is quite muscly so not a small frame.
Trying not to say built like a brick shit house. She is certainly not overweight and until last week had been dancing since 2.5
Just in case anybody thought she may be obese.

She doesn't like one Direction. To be able sit down without showing her bum, something different to jeans t shirt and hoody, which is the only thing she has left.
Since summer her feet have grown from 1.5 to 3, she has shot up.
Her lovely well stocked versatile wardrobe is at the charity shop.
I'm totally lost.

marks and spencer?

paperlantern · 20/11/2013 22:13

you probably want h&m

littlewhitebag · 20/11/2013 22:14

If she doesn't need anything desperately don't get her anything. She will ask if she needs new clothes. Jean's, t shirt and hoody is normal up to late teens.

DD went through this at the same age. Solid straight up and down and trousers were a nightmare. I think we kitted her out at BHS. It didn't last long Smile

morethanpotatoprints · 20/11/2013 22:27

bundaburg,

One Direction, and tiny weeny jeans.
H&M nothing without bloody rabbits, or horses or too bloody small.
Next was ok but all too small now.

We have tried some size 4 and 6 women's but can only get away with jeans, t shirts and hoodies as everything else is too grown up.
Tammy is just short skirts, bloody one direction again, Prom dresses.

She needs smart tops, cardigans, trousers/jeans, sweaters, t -shirts, pretty tops, good quality leggings and anything anybody else can think of.

Matalan, River Island, New Look

BobPatSamandIgglePiggle · 20/11/2013 22:30

Monsoon / river island kids / bhs / Debenhams?

morethanpotatoprints · 20/11/2013 22:31

I think hoodys and t shirts are great normally, but there is often now when she needs to be smart casual, a bit dressed up, but not done up in posh frocks.
I can't find the medium.

Gap are often quite good, you might have to go a couple of sizes bigger than her age. I often find bits in Zara, but it can be hit & miss.
John lewis own brand stuff is often nice.
This winter my dd has quite a few sweater type dresses to wear with leggings, i have bught them from Boden and joules (joules sizing is small) all of her leggings come from gap or debenhams.

Merrylegs · 20/11/2013 22:33

John Lewis or Zara?

Madratlady · 20/11/2013 22:36

Try New Look, both the teen and adult ranges.

morethanpotatoprints · 20/11/2013 22:36

I can't afford Monsoon and do find them small anyway.
BHS not smart, New look just has half size tops, short skirts.
Most of Debenhams is too small.

Not tried Matalan could this be the one?

Thank you for all the responses, I know I'm not being fussy and have nothing against these clothes, but they aren't big enough or smart enough.

M&S, next, zara, matalan, monsoon and john lewis have good mix and match basics upto ages 14 and 16. My Dd aged 9 is wearing long sleve tops, skirs, tights, leggings, tunics, jeans, dresses and knitwear... no one direction or anything too old. Sainsburys had lovely woolen coats and denim dresses upto age 16 half price this week.

Lonecatwithkitten · 20/11/2013 22:43

My DD is a little bit older from sounds of things a similar shape. I buy a couple of really good bits from Johnnie B ( for example a skater skirt this winter) then top up with tops from H&M and New Look.

bonkersLFDT20 · 20/11/2013 22:43

Next go up to 16 (a least they do online). Surely she's not too big for that, is she?

Is she mature in what she likes to wear or does she like younger girls clothes?

Sarahplane · 20/11/2013 22:44

John Lewis, new look or matalan

greeneyes1978 · 20/11/2013 22:46

Tk maxx has cool stuff in to teen sizes. My friend's little girl sounds similar to yours and she quite often gets stuff from Debhanams (via ebay quite often).

Northernexile · 20/11/2013 22:52

Vertbaudet? Got my DD some nice bits there and they go up to age 14 I think.

Dilidali · 20/11/2013 22:52

this trousers, they come properly high up

this pair of trakkies for around the house

Two weeks ago she woke up with NOTHING fitting her. Identical built with what you described your DD as.

Dilidali · 20/11/2013 22:55

Sorry dress

Dilidali · 20/11/2013 22:56

this shirt for jeans

paperlantern · 20/11/2013 22:57

h&m you want online not shop.

PatriciaHolm · 20/11/2013 23:00

DD (9 and tall) is a big fan of Fat Face.

MeAndMyGirl · 20/11/2013 23:00

My daughter is 8 years old and has adult 6 shoe size and nearly out of age 16 next/m&s so i feel your pain. She also has her bum hanging out a lot as although she is tall, she has a child's build. Angel at m&s is good as is next. More pricey but it lasts (till next growth spurt)
