'Easygoing funny and fit woman looking for guys. Meet her now"

Complete with skimpy little black dress.

Can anyone else see this at the top of the page?

At least the strange woman hasn't reappeared.

IAlwaysThought · 19/11/2013 00:39

IMO..

If you are on an iPhone or ipad then you should disable ad-tracking and disable frequent locations . Information on how to do it is in THIS ARTICLE.

You should also opt out of GOOGLE search based ads. This stops google monitoring your search history and then displaying, what it thinks, are relevant ads on whatever website you are on. Once you have disabled search based ads you will still be shown ads but they will be general random ones. Information on how to do this in ON THIS GOGGLE SUPPORT PAGE

You should also disable cookies from third parties and advertisers. If you are really concerned about privacy you can block all cookies or use 'private
Browsing'. I tend to just stick with blocking cookies from third parties and advertisers though.

If you do all this you shouldn't get inappropriate ads on Mumsnet or other website regardless of your search history.

EBearhug · 19/11/2013 00:42

No, but my internet life is much improved by hsving discovered ad-blockers.

Zagazooisalreadyamnname · 19/11/2013 00:53

Mumsnet has ads?

wineoclocktimeyet · 19/11/2013 09:00

Thank you for the Google link Ialwaysthought - been trying to find that for ages.

As well as the privacy issue, my boys use this laptop and at this time of the year when I've been present hunting, the ads are a huge giveaway!

FracturedViewOfLife · 19/11/2013 09:05

I have Olbas oil adverts. I have a cold and have been googling medicine.

TotallyAddictedToLurking · 19/11/2013 09:09

Do you have Android?

I am logged onto Google on my pc and phone so anything I Google on either device appears as an ad on both.

Lancelottie · 19/11/2013 09:12

Cor. It must react pretty quickly, as I now also have Olbas, plus iPads, plus holidays, none of which I've been googling so it must be from this thread?

Golddigger · 19/11/2013 11:40

Maybe ilovesooty goes round the boards putting the word adverts in her posts, or names companies, and she is a secret mumsnet advert spreader? Grin

op. I havent actally seen the advert to which you are referring. Have you emailed mumsnet with your concerns?

Golddigger · 19/11/2013 11:42

Curious. For some reason I cannot do an advance search for ilovesooty
