I miss Spangles and Toffos (especially the multi-flavoured ones), and Dracula Ice-lollies and Cabanas -oh, and more recently, Galaxy hazelnut bars which have been replaced by caramalised nut sickly ones, and piglets and smax. Why do they discontinue them? WHY?

MadeOfStarDust · 12/11/2013 19:49

I miss sweet coconut "tobacco" and orange cremola foam

ShotgunNotDoingThePans · 12/11/2013 19:50

Usual, weren't they Lord Toffinghams, or am I getting mixed up with a Beano character? They were bloody gorgeous, anyway.

Lollygobblechocbombs.

And, I only remember having these once or twice when I was tiny, Milk Tray bars - a bar of chocolate with actual chocolates embedded in it!

MrsDavidBowie · 12/11/2013 19:51

I loved Toffos which probably has something to do with my many fillingsSad
i loved Old Jamaica chocolate, and used to think I was going to get drunk on it.
Spangles were great.

ShotgunNotDoingThePans · 12/11/2013 19:53

Yes, 'Old Jamaycee - don't 'ee knock it all back at once!'

DollySisterIsKickingUpLeaves · 12/11/2013 19:55

Striper (or was it striker?) bars.

Mint eggs, like creme eggs but minty.

Mr men ice lollies.

American quarterbacks crisps.

White mice made from really cheap chocolate with a squidgy red centre.

GhettoFabulous · 12/11/2013 19:55

Sweetheart dessert in a can and Cresta lemonade - it's frothy man!

LaurieFairyCake · 12/11/2013 19:57

All cheap chocolate tasted better back then

Everything from creme eggs to marathons, from dairy milk to Mars bars.

I will not agree that they are the same now

FoofGoesPoof · 12/11/2013 20:00

Cadbury Marble chocolate bars! Yum. (Toffos too!)

FoofGoesPoof · 12/11/2013 20:02

Cadbury Spira bars too I am not a chocoholic

DollySisterIsKickingUpLeaves · 12/11/2013 20:03

Lowcocks lemonade. We used to get 5p for empties at the shop near my nana.

Bettercallsaul1 · 12/11/2013 20:12

Zoom ice lollies! Shaped like a space rocket, with three different flavours! We thought they were so exotic! (Still do!)

Mefisto · 12/11/2013 20:21

Corona cream soda, made the best ice cream floats!

Tigerbomb · 12/11/2013 20:22

Cheap chocolate in the shape of a hammer, wrench, screwdriver
Ready salted Disco crisps - i can find the C&O and S&V ones but not ready salted Sad

DoTheStrand · 12/11/2013 20:25

Was highland toffee the one that came as a small slab with a little hammer for breaking it up? I used to love the nut one.

Loved cabana bars. Also chocolate tools (!) - little saw, spanner etc made out of cheap chocolate. I still buy bags of raspberry ruffles which are delicious.

I think the sweet cigarettes no longer have the red bit on the end to signify the lit end.

letsgotothebeach · 12/11/2013 20:28

White chocolate fish n chips. Also Weekend chocolates - used to ask for them at Easter instead of an egg!

WallyBantersJunkBox · 12/11/2013 20:32

Dothestrand that was Bluebird toffee I think.

Another thing that went on the Coffee table for Christmas - next to the glass bowl of mixed nuts and packet of "Eat Me" dates. Grin

DoTheStrand · 12/11/2013 20:36

Thanks Wally, I think you're right. btw I have Eat Me dates and mixed nuts on my Christmas food order already Grin

honeybeeridiculous · 12/11/2013 21:55

my dad always manages to buy a packet.of orange & lemon slices for xmas, nobody ever eats them, vile things!

DumSpiroSpero · 12/11/2013 21:56

I think I saw on FB recently that Poundland are going to be stocking 'fish & chips' snacks soon.

I loved Pyramints and Hot Crunch Puddings!

mrspremise · 12/11/2013 22:00

Oh, Spira bars were really lush... I have a bar of Old Jamaica in the cupboard right now, I buy loads whenever I see it!

scripsi · 12/11/2013 22:03

Now, I didn't particularly love this, but there was a weird lattice type snack (consistency of a wotsit) sandwiched with a kind of soft cheese filling: it seems to be the taste of a particular time for me. No idea what is was called!

marriedinwhiteisback · 12/11/2013 22:03

I might be the only person in the world that remembers this but I remember (late 60s/early 70s I think) a tin of spaghetti bolognaise. It had the pasta at one end to be opened by the opener (gloopy it was) and the meat (if it can be called that) at the other end. You cooked the separately and served it like spag bol shouldn't be served with the "meat" on top of the gloop. My mother had just started to cook spag bol (and travelled to London to buy things like pasta and garlic Shock) and this was my gran's shot at providing my favourite food. I did like it though - really thought it was the bees knees Blush. She used to make it in two little pans and give me parmesan to put on it.

Financeprincess · 12/11/2013 22:03

For anybody who is interested, Cabana bars were discontinued when the ingredients got too expensive. I'd have paid top dollar for them, though!

marriedinwhiteisback · 12/11/2013 22:04

I remember that Wotsitty cheesy thing too; but I don't remember the name either Smile.

Wagon wheels and curly wurlys. It's starting to come back now.

scripsi · 12/11/2013 22:07

glad it isn't just me married!
