As an aside, am I only the one who has been driven mad by that newish song? Story of My Life? It's taken over the house, thanks to DD1.

Mylovelyboy · 08/11/2013 20:47

Fill it up with some sweets and some other cheap bits and bobs. Will look all baggy and empty hanging there. Pound Shop a good un

Caitlin17 · 08/11/2013 20:51

Haven't read all of the thread but agree it'd be even nicer to let her have the say of who gets the third ticket. I'm sure she'd much rather take a friend.

WoweeZowee · 08/11/2013 22:04

[Firstly, sorry if anyone's already suggested this - or you've resolved your dilemma- I skipped a few pages of this thread!]

What about making a big fake ticket, print on card, cut it up and make a treasure hunt for the bits around the house on Xmas morning? Saves having to buy extra stuff and makes the pressie opening last longer!

WoweeZowee · 08/11/2013 22:12

Oops! Just seen Kwazii's post suggest basically same thing first a couple of posts up. Blush oh ignore me ;-) Grin

fuzzpig · 08/11/2013 22:48

I don't think regular stocking fillers would cheapen it. It'd make the suspense last longer as she'd see a normal full stocking with sweets etc and then suddenly find the envelope and squeeeeeeeee

What a weird thread. Do people really think a 10 year old is going to be upset if she doesn't get socks and knickers along with her 1D tickets?

I always hated the stocking tradition. Every year I'd open the little parcels of tat and make appreciative noises, but really I just wished my parents would spend that money on one nice gift that would actually feel a bit special. I would have been thrilled if they'd 'just' gotten me concert tickets!

ChippingInLovesAutumn · 09/11/2013 00:38

Can you explain what the point of this thread was?

nuttynatty00 · 09/11/2013 00:41

no love your not being unreasonable your being a stinge.

xCupidStuntx · 09/11/2013 00:49

Ah definitely let her take a friend, she's ten not two!!!

notso · 09/11/2013 00:58

It depends how you usually do Christmas, if you normally do a stocking of bits and bobs then some big presents under the tree or whatever then yes the tickets and nothing not even chocolate money seems mean.

I really think it's odd for two adults who don't like 1D to go to a 1D concert. I understand you all going on the trip but both of you going to have your brain pierced by screaming girls for 2 sweaty hours. I can't understand it. I'd feel mean that one less screaming teen or tween couldn't go because me and DH were there with our earphones in.
I'm eternally grateful that I don't have to go with DD next year!

ThisIsMummyPig · 09/11/2013 01:17

Personally I would have bought two tickets, but arranged for all three of us to have the weekend away. It's a bit late for that now.

I think it is fine for your DD not to have a stocking if you and your partner won't be having any extra presents to open either. I don't think I could let her sit and watch me opening my presents though.

Is there no way you could sell the ticket?

FortyDoorsToNowhere · 09/11/2013 01:59

Asked my niece, showed her the thread and she said. Omg I am seeing Harry styles, Louis, Nile, Zayne and Liam who cares about anything else.

Did I mention omg Harry styles

OhMerGerd · 09/11/2013 04:18

Lu

OhMerGerd · 09/11/2013 04:29

Lucky Girl. You know your child so if you think the ticket is enough that's fine.

spidersolitare · 09/11/2013 08:19

I'm beginning to wonder why I started this thread too!

fuzzpig · 09/11/2013 08:50

Forty I like the fact that Harry gets a surname and the others don't :o

My 4yo DS is obsessed with 'Hawwy'

ringaringarosy · 09/11/2013 08:56

i think at 10 shes still young enough to need a few bits to open and do on christmas day.does she like arty stuff or nail varnish/make up that kind of thing?

ringaringarosy · 09/11/2013 08:57

i hope my kids dont ever start liking crap music.

LadyBeagleEyes · 09/11/2013 08:58

Why on earth is the Op getting such a hard time and why shouldn't the three of them go to the concert? Confused
Op I do think you should put a few other things in the stocking, how about making them all One Direction themed until she get's to the tickets.
There's a lot of 1D tat out there.

ringaringarosy · 09/11/2013 08:59

we never had stockings!i got my dcs them this year but they will have stuff in they actually like in them not just tat to fill them up.

stickysausages · 09/11/2013 09:10

My DH wouldn't be seen dead near a teenybopper concert! Can she not have a friend go with you?

mrsjay · 09/11/2013 09:13

I dont know why people are going on about dad and mum both going to the concert that is really Odd why shouldnt they go as a family, personally i would rather stick pins in my eyes than go to a 1d concert but if the dd was going i dont see the big deal of them all going,

TheDoctrineOfWho · 09/11/2013 09:13

People, please read at least the OP's posts.

The concert involves an overnight stay, they are all going and the DD will be HAPPY that they are all going.

waikikamookau · 09/11/2013 09:16

i dont know why the one direction tickets are in the stocking. for my part that would be the present from you. and the stocking full of chocs, but hey I thinkthe thread has movedon somewhat.
