everyones child has a toy called sophie....

I don't want to talk about baby food and really don't care what kind of bloody pram you have got.

How can that 'Yummy Mummy' bag be any compensation for not being able to carry a proper handbag anymore..

'would you like a drink'

'I'd love a coffee..'....
.'yes we have some de-caf,'
(I don't want de-caf I want fucking caffine you cunts)

i've just realised that CK is not referring to Calvin Klein. Confused

I didnt know about 'buggyfit' and don't time my breatfeeding. I haven’t even got much of a clue how many feeds she has.....she feeds, poos, grows. Should I be counting/timing?

I feel like i've landed on a very weird planet

yada pepsi n shirley, salt and peppa! Ha, we must be the same sort of age. Maybe once their DC 2 or 3 arrive they'll chill out a bit..

Where I live there are some very 'alternative' parents, my DS's school is awash with parents who are 'creative' types, I'm pretty sure caffeine is not the strongest substance they enjoy. I think they are pretty try hard in their own way. I find some of their antics totally inappropriate. Lifestyle choices that I believe strongly should be left behind with your child free days. I am selling up as I am too conservative with a small C to fit in! That said, they are adults and can make their own choices.

My DS is 6.5 but likes his toddler sister's rice cakes, he also likes chocolate donuts, broccoli, carrots, cabbage, sprouts, any fish, macdonalds but hates fries, burgers, likes the deep fried fish fingers and the toy in the happy meal. He hates any hot food from Greggs. He enjoys chocolate chip oatcakes, ice cream. His 2 year old sister has a more limited diet but that's because my son has the foundations of a good diet. I don't want DD just eating cake, chips and milkshake as at 2 that is what she would only eat- her tastes aren't sophisticated enough yet. I really don't see why someone would judge someone because they see them feeding their children rice cakes, maybe like me they are just trying to ensure (knowing their DC's overall diet) that highly fatty food is limited for the sake of their child's health and teeth- shock horror, caring Mother alert!

Periodfeatures They will, and if they don't you'll have worked out a whole other support network by then. Remember, this NCT thing is an entry point. It works for some and for others it just doesn't. I found myself feeling really lost after having worked in a cliquey world for a long time and then moving cities when my firstborn arrived.

We spend a great deal of our adult lives having people filtered for us by the educational and/or work choices we make. You become a mother and suddenly it is like being at school again (well, state school, anyway Wink). I think that is why lots of us get into the herd mentality again - or in my case fall foul of it. It is hard to find like-minded souls in that alienating space where people start wearing masks to feel acceptable and accepted. It does change though - through nothing else but exhaustion!

Day before yesterday I got sent a Cath Kidston Christmas Catalogue in the post. No idea why as I have never knowingly bought anything from them before but I guess my details got sold to a mailing list.

Anyway I leafed through it while having my tea but found it really hard to like anything. Nothing necessarily to do with the goods themselves - possiby displayed differently something might have caught my eye. But it was something to do with the presentation - all small pictures and tiny print. Maybe Cath Kidston fans like the discreet but I just felt I went all the way through and saw nothing that said "Oh look at me!"

Anyone else seen this catalogue?

Is it just me that shudders at the term 'Yummy Mummy' ugh Hmm

Goldenbear · 08/11/2013 13:34

I don't think all people are wearing 'Masks' who like these things. Some people pre-children are very aware of displays of lifestyle choices and this is who they are- no mystery to it. People buy fast, expensive cars to indicate lifestyle choices, others buy expensive art purely just to show off!

BettyandDon · 08/11/2013 13:38

I'm not sure about the bags you do need something relatively waterproof inside!

BraveMerida · 08/11/2013 13:42

I don't get why people buy expensive art....or any (abstract) painting by someone they don't know...I get more enjoyment out of displaying dd's artwork in the home.
