AIBU to be a bit sad about it? BHS usually excel in it, I noticed today Asda had an aisle of it.

It's all so, well, crap. Sad

I wouldn't buy any of it for anyone-it looks like you went down the random Christmas tat aisle and bought the first thing you saw. Who buys it? Confused

Sorry about mentioning the C word-but it's out there. Sad

There's a whole site of naff gifts.

I'm buying this for FIL, because he'd hate it, and I don't like him!

alemci · 05/11/2013 22:05

Baldy Buffer - that is hilarious. You've made my day. Grin

IamInvisible · 05/11/2013 22:08

OMG handy for after the sprouts at Christmas lunch! Grin

There should be a kind of honour-system protection-racket thing where your SIL sends you a photo of the shoe / cava thing, or mini Baileys thing, and says "oi, you're lucky you're not getting this. Send £16 to Shelter / RSPCA NAAAAAAAAAH" and everybody does and it is the twoo meaning of Cwithmath (soppy), but no one actually buys this shit

Bath sets where the mini bottles of bubble bath/body cream always come inside a miniature plastic bath. WTAF are you meant to do with the miniature bath afterwards?

Cookery sets with all the things in to make a dinner, except for the useful things. So a pizza set will come with a tub of dried sawdusty herbs, a bag of dough mixture, but no mozzarella or salami.

Michael McIntyre DVDS.

Things like miniature cookbooks, of which there are 20, and come in a massive box and therefore cannot be stored anywhere. So they must go to the charity shop and your mum who bought them moans about you being ungrateful.

DuffyMoon · 05/11/2013 22:32

I like the fact that the shoe phone holder combo says the shoe is for decorative purposes only less you go mad and try and force your foot into it a la Cinderella

Sparklingbrook · 05/11/2013 22:37

Yy to the mini bath Marmalade. Grin

Look at the price of this little gem of a gift.

at 'Cinderella'.

The one criteria that everyone should adhere to when choosing a present is this; can you only buy this item at christmas?

If yes, step away, because things that you can only buy at christmas are shite.

You can buy things like scarves, aftershave, perfume, books, diaries, photo frames, cds, magazine subscriptions ALL YEAR ROUND. You can only buy a miniature bottle of Malibu inside a glass with 6 Malibu flavoured chocolates for £6.99 at christmas. Step away.

Unless you are buying for a shitehawk then go for it.

DuffyMoon · 05/11/2013 22:38

Shitehawk Grin

MarmaladeBatkins · 05/11/2013 22:39

TWELVE POUNDS??? TWELVE POUNDS for three bags of popcorn?! What the FLIP? Who actually buys this and thinks a: I'm getting a good deal here and b: so and so will REALLY LOVE THIS?

Who?

MarmaladeBatkins · 05/11/2013 22:41

Oh I do apologise, 6 bags of popcorn.

Of course, that's an amazing price 6 bags of popcorn for £1 in Home Bargains, people

Marmalade

Unless you are really rich or house proud and wouldn't stoop so low Grin

The mini bath which I have received on occasion has a good use as a holder for flannels, or sponges or other tat in loos/bathrooms.

Just thought I'd say.

Sparklingbrook · 05/11/2013 22:48

How much??????

writingmynamewithsparklers · 05/11/2013 22:49

YES! YABVU. I lurve Christmas tat and could spend HOURS in the Christmas department bit of BHS.
If it's back already then I guess I'm having a trip to the nearest BHS sharpish! Grin

Sparklingbrook · 05/11/2013 22:50

I've been in M&S every day this week (including one in a nearby town) and they keep trying to flog these ridiculous metal, musical, revolving Christmas trees that are about 9 inches high. They are there by the cashier in the food department. They are apparently "half price" at £4.99 but I never noticed them before at £10 so don't think they were ever priced at that.

Anyway, they are shite.

Coveredinweetabix · 05/11/2013 22:52

But it wouldn't be Christmas without a stroll around the temple of tat that is the ground floor of BHS on Oxford St. It fascinates me. And the people who are in there in November with baskets full of items fascinate me even more. Surely these would only be last minute desperate purchases rather than something you'd buy eight weeks in advance.
I'm glad I'm not the only one who hates smellies. I thought I was odd in not liking them until I read this thread. Last year, I got given both Jo Malone and Molten Brown smellies but neither of them in scents that I like. I didn't know until I started using the "old rose" (or similarly named) Jo Malone shower gel that there was anything in that shop that I could possibly dislike but there is. I wince each morning when I use it and wish I'd had the sense to re-gift it.
If anyone comes up with a use for body lotions, please let me know. I have about 50,000 unopened bottles of the stuff.

Can I ask you all what do you do with your 'tat'?

it'd be good if we could all donate it to people who'd appreciate it more than ourselves.

OwlinaTree · 05/11/2013 22:54

Now thanks to sparkling and neversleeps we have a pair of shoes!
