Aisles of random tat that appear in shops at Christmas....

AIBU to be a bit sad about it? BHS usually excel in it, I noticed today Asda had an aisle of it.

It's all so, well, crap. Sad

I wouldn't buy any of it for anyone-it looks like you went down the random Christmas tat aisle and bought the first thing you saw. Who buys it? Confused

Sorry about mentioning the C word-but it's out there. Sad

I take the parcel sticker off, I thought everyone did!

The talk of bath sets reminds me of the Men Behaving Badly Xmas special where the boys bought loads of useless tat. Gary gave Dorothy a deep fat fryer! And Dorothy and Debs gave each other exactly the same Boots gift set :o

Bogeyface · 04/11/2013 20:32

The best received gifts I ever gave were hampers with homemade bath bombs, soap, marmalade, chutney and Xmas cake. I did them as we were skint, but it turned out it cost me more than just buying them!

Im guessing im the only one who likes going around looking at the Christmas Tat.

My bil loves the marmite stuff so i add to his collection each year....

fuzzpig · 04/11/2013 20:34

Mrsjay... a few things I remember from the local MenKind:
Superhero slankets
50 shades of grey board game
Mouldable chocolate
A mug where the handle is a knuckleduster

Sparklingbrook · 04/11/2013 20:36

But Just if you have bought a 'gift set' from Boots it will be in the 3 for 2-everyone knows that without the sticker. Grin because they have dragged round Boots too. Wink

FGS don't go in Menkind. DS1 treated himself to a gun that fires rubber bands last week. and watch out for their 'saucy' section down the end. Shock

Me too! I have a white kitchen with all the tea towels, tins, oven gloves....you name it in the Pop Art Marmite design. If you find anything new can you please send me a link?!

Sparklingbrook · 04/11/2013 20:38

Sparklingbrook · 04/11/2013 20:40

This thread is holding up a mirror to the tragedy of my life. I love Boots 3 for 2 gifts too. Two years ago my favourite gift (given to me) was an invalid pillow. I was a bit worried that DH would find this a passion killer, but he liked it so much that the next year my mum bought him one too.

I am genuinely pleased with the things I get for Christmas. I am getting a new dressing gown this year.

Sparklingbrook · 04/11/2013 20:46

ICameOnTheJitney · 04/11/2013 20:48

follow my lead and go vintage. I'm making shit this year...everything...crackers, tablecloth....gifts....except the kid's gifts because they're materialistic little things and would disown me otherwise.

phantomnamechanger · 04/11/2013 20:49

oh heck, the marmite!! our BHS was full of the stuff last year - a whole bloody marmite tatt aisle!! marmite in chocolate

ICameOnTheJitney · 04/11/2013 20:50

Looked at the "Lovely wedged shoe which also has another use as a mobile phone holder" (shoot the copywriter) and noticed that it "Contains Sulphates" Hmm So it's frigging pug ugly AND dangerous. Oooh...I'll have THREE!

SlightlyJaded · 04/11/2013 20:51

And lest we forget, the king of all Tat

I give you the Chocolate Fountain.

Why?
Who?

Actually, that would be me. From MIL one year. I quite like a piece of chocolate now and then. Therefore, I must want to splatter my entire house with cheap runny chocolate.

It never left the box and has now made it through through two Christmas/Summer School Fairs.

Also Robert Dyas is a bad offender.

mrsjay · 04/11/2013 20:54

the chocolate fountain that doesn't work I remember it well

PipkinsPal · 04/11/2013 20:57

I only get Christmas presents from my parents, sister and my niece, she's 3 so it is a joint effort with my sister which is good because I get what I want and none of it is tat. Smile

AChristmassyJerseySpud · 04/11/2013 20:57

I like Christmas Jumpers both my dd's have them and christmas gloves me for me DD1

I cant help it. I love Christmas

Bogeyface · 04/11/2013 20:59
