Was at the gym on Friday having a great workout. Suddenly the smell of chips is over whelming. Hate the smell of fried food but in the Gym. Instructor was having his lunch, just really pissed me off really wanted to say something. AIBU?

Oh the poor bloke. Probably had no time for lunch as they were understaffed or something and thought he was grabbing something quick & non offensive, only for one of his PRIVATE guests to have a chipfit. You wouldn't get this at David Lloyd I tell ya!

Really, you're making a mountain out of a molehill. Since when did your smell preferences supercede someone's need to eat? He probably had to come back and eat them at the gym because there was no one there to cover him. Have a bit of tolerance for the rest of the world.

There are some distinctly unpleasant people on this thread. Just to put the record straight, I joined a gym because of a chronic health condition I don't particularly enjoy going but have chosen a place that is nice to make it good as possible iyswim. I am not some raving snob or precious. This Trainer has lovely grounds to consume his smelly chips or brocholli soup or a very nice restaurant to eat his lunch. I do not hanker after chips I would have found the smell of poached fish or a Thai curry just as abhorrent in the environment. ( both I love but not whilst working out) I think maybe it is the employer to blame and not letting the lad leave his desk and probably not his choice. But considering this gym is charging a good sum to be a member and painting themselves as quite exclusive, I find it rather ironic I actually blame them, it is not personal to the trainer who seems a very nice chap. And to the person who said would I have problem if he was munching on a salad, I would not have had a problem as I would have been none the wiser as SALADS do not STINK! Breath,,,,,,,

Once, at a visit to the hairdressers I could smell something really unsavoury whilst having my foils washed off.

Twisted my eyes to the right to see the ' hairdresser' shovelling down a pot noodle with one hand balanced inches from my temples.

Is this ok too?

YANBU

It's the same as swanning into the gym with fag stench surrounding you
