To think it is really really weird that my OH keeps a lock of my hair?

Moving house and came across a chunk of my hair, neatly tied into a little strand.

Confronted OH who said, without a hint of embarrassment, that he had it "to remind me of you".

Er, okay... Creepy hair keeper.

He sourced it after I'd cut my fringe one time and claims its a "normal lover thing".

AIBU to think this is really weird?

Objection- I didn't investigate too closely, for sure, but I have a nasty suspicion that they had gone, erm, a bit crusty and so were sort of solidified.

I am now obliged to 'fess that I still have a used tissue from the love of my life from the night he spent sobbing in my arms before going in the army.

See! We're all nutters really! (as soon as dp goes to do the shopping I'm going for a fettle in his bedside table)

Strumpetron · 02/11/2013 14:24

^My exh got a sunburnt back which I lovingly peeled the skin off.. I got a big strip off and kept it in my diary!

I'll get my coat^

Hahhahahaaha

Oh. Oh my. In my mind this is worse than the condoms...

The weirdest part about this is that you didn't know. If he had said, "can I keep this hair you've cut off?" That would be better, I think the knowledge/permission thing is quite important.

WaitingForMe · 02/11/2013 15:03

I don't think it's that odd but then I have DSs umbilical cord stump which DH says makes me a freak.

Amandine29 · 02/11/2013 15:10

I think it is a bit odd that he took it without you knowing. However, when my grandmother died we found a locket with a lock of my hair. I was slightly creeped out (by the hair, not my grandmother having it) but was informed this is a normal thing to do.

SilverApples · 02/11/2013 15:12

He wanted a lock of his beloved's hair, but he probably knew that she'd think 'Ewww, weird and creepy' So he collected some she'd thrown away.
Creepy would have been if he cut it off your head whilst you were sleeping... Grin

GobblersAnyKnobFucker · 02/11/2013 15:18

I have both my dc's umbilical stumps, in little zip lock bags.

An ex from a long time ago used to find and collect my pubes out of the bed after I had left, and kept them in a matchbox. THAT was wierd, wonder if he still has it? Grin

marmaladeandguitars · 02/11/2013 15:27

Awww, I think it's cute.

Says the woman who has locks of DH and DD's hair entwined in antique locket

BigPawsBrown · 02/11/2013 15:33

A lock, from a fringe trim? Did you cut one side of your fringe off?!

Objection · 02/11/2013 15:35

Not a fringe trim - a fringe creation. Said lock of hair is perhaps 10-15cm

Abbierhodes · 02/11/2013 15:39

How can you be sure it's yours? and not from one of his victims

feelingood · 02/11/2013 15:45

There was a man in my DH's old office who kept clips of hair from all the women he had dated. It was not clear if the hair was from the head or otherwise. He was known as 'the clipper'.

Now that is creepy.

GreenVelvet · 02/11/2013 15:53

I think its sweet. Gosh. Do men still do things like that?

edam · 02/11/2013 15:56

Your OH may well be sweet and old fashioned but some of the others here are gross. eek eek eekety eek.

Damnautocorrect · 02/11/2013 15:59

Is he going to clone you?

HoldMeCloserTonyDanza · 02/11/2013 16:14

He is either a serial killer or a medieval knight.

cocolepew · 02/11/2013 16:21

Doinmummy Shock You freak! Are you hoping to get enough for a suit?

KittensoftPuppydog · 02/11/2013 16:23

Sweet.

DrankSangriaInThePark · 02/11/2013 16:53

Feelingood's acquaintance is definitely creepy. His name wasn't Daniele Restivo was it? (Italian serial killer recently jailed for life for killing 2 women, poss 3- used to hang round parks and sneak up behind women and cut bits of hair off.)

Objection · 03/11/2013 08:14

I think he is a medieval knight. He does have a partIcularly impressive lance Wink

Doinmummy · 04/11/2013 15:18

Yes I know I'm odd. It was such a big bit of skin I put it in my diary to press it( like you do with flowers). Then I forgot about it and found it ages later. It was all crispy!

Grin at having enough to make a suit.

KellyElly · 04/11/2013 16:31

Does he like to read lots of 18th century literature novels? If so no. Is he interested in serial killers and lots of real crime drama? Then yes. There is probably also some middle ground Grin

RunRabbit · 04/11/2013 18:31

I wonder if any women keep vials of their DPs semen.

Grin
valiumredhead · 04/11/2013 18:57
