Due to have an op tomorrow where they are going to also put the mirena coil in. I have done some research and it seems there are a lot of negative stories. I know people are more likely to talk about a bad experience but after reading a thread BASTARD mirena its started me worrying.

Due to have it because of heavy/irregular periods.

Thanks

Had mirena coil a few years ago. Got pregnant while using it but only realised when I miscarried.

Dh had the snip soon after.

If you don't need it for contraceptive reasons why not ask for an endometrial ablation instead?

Fwiw I had no probs with the mirena after the first 7 to 8 months, but took it out a week ago as it's correlated with a worsening of hypermobility, and I'm a bit desperate right now...

I have had a mirena coil fitted just 6 weeks ago after advice from a friend, its absolutely brilliant. Yes was uncomfortable when fitted and cramping for about 24 hours but since then, no probs. Some slight spotting during the 6 wks and had very slight bleeding for 5 days. I wished I had it fitted years ago. I know some have bad experiences with it, and I did weigh up the pros and cons for some time before having it fitted.
