That in fact some of us keep these things private because we don't want to get found out in rl or just want a bollenaise recipe or to let off steam room like to we would to our friends?

Really getting annoyed by people saying is that all you have to worry about about?

Of course it isn't, and no one is really dim enough to assume that you only post about the important in your life

YANBU

I am generally happy. And feel lucky. Healthy DCs. Loving husband and supportive parents. And some very good friends. And yet the things that bother me the most I have never ever uttered a word about to anyone; online or in RL. But I will often fix on an immediate and possibly solvable problem and seek help with it. I can't be the only one. Can I?

Lizzylou · 28/10/2013 20:49

After today it is safe to say that I will never post anything remotely personal.
It's all about the whimsy from now on.

MurderOfBanshees · 28/10/2013 20:58

YANBU, those posters are bloody tedious.

Lizzy Did something happen today?

Lizzylou · 28/10/2013 21:25

Murder, I was quoted for stuff I said on here years ago, out of context by some dick. Blah!

MurderOfBanshees · 28/10/2013 21:27

Ah shit, that's awful. Sorry to hear that. :(

SPsTombRaidingWithCliff · 28/10/2013 21:28

Someone searched way back to find quotes?

Lizzylou · 28/10/2013 21:34

The sex article thing, it's no big deal. Dh would be livid though! Bit annoying.

Lizzylou · 28/10/2013 21:35

It wasn't even racy!

Jolleigh · 28/10/2013 21:45

I've had this on one of my threads today actually...Devils did indeed come to my defence but it certainly put my nose out of joint. I'm fairly new to the site (mum to a mango sized baby so far) so thought I'd posted about something too trivial. I also got told that I'm lucky to have a mum so shouldn't be having a moan about her Confused . I am of course very lucky to have my mum but by the same logic, can home owners not complain about their homes because they're lucky to have a mortgage? Workers not complain about work because they're lucky to have a job? Parents not complain about their children because they're lucky to have them in the first place?

People have such a huge spectrum of problems. I know I have quite a few that no amount of mumsnet posting can solve. There are also some I just plain want to keep to myself. But I can have sympathy for people who post all kinds of problems and love providing an alternative opinion and some good debate.

And I love coming to AIBU and seeing a good light hearted thread. It makes the lion's den worth braving Grin

BigOrangePumpkin · 28/10/2013 21:56

Jolleigh I think it's just so bloody mean when people do that. Your analogy is absolutely right, and if we take it right to it's logical conclusion then no one should post about anything because we're lucky to be alive! There is a time and a

DontmindifIdo · 28/10/2013 21:56

Lizzy - this is why I name change - although I'm due another change soon.

Jolleigh - you're fine! I don't understand the view that the one thing you are asking for advice on must be your own issue in your life, surely it's just the only one that you need advice on? I have several problems, but unless i'm looking for ideas/advice/genuinely not sure if i'm the one in the wrong (or being unreasonable!), then I'm not going to bother posting on AIBU.

BigOrangePumpkin · 28/10/2013 21:57

DAMN IT!!!

Place for talking about things like that and a hijacked light hearted thread is not it.

Sparklingbrook · 28/10/2013 21:58

Yes. Nobody post about anything. Then everyone will be happy.

I got in a bit of a mess last week musing about the NHS and hospital food. Sad

BigOrangePumpkin · 28/10/2013 22:02

Oh Sparkling I started reading that one but quickly had to hide it, did it not end well?!

Sparklingbrook · 28/10/2013 22:05

Well someone decided I had something against the NHS Pumpkin as I had started a thread about GPs opening hours a month or so before. They said I had a short memory too.

It was bizarre because i had forgotten all about the previous thread.

ZingWantsCake · 28/10/2013 22:06

Is that all you have to worry about? Grin Grin Grin

ah, it's annoying when people are nasty about fun/silly/lighthearted thread or a less than life & death topic.
don't let it get to you

BigOrangePumpkin · 28/10/2013 22:07

I've always thought you had the look of an NHS hater about you Sparkling Wink

SatinSandals · 28/10/2013 22:08

YANBU. MN is probably the last place that I would discuss a personal problem.

Sparklingbrook · 28/10/2013 22:11

SPs rushed to my aid on the thread Pumpkin and posted-

Goady fucker Sparkling. Starting threads about things and shit

Grin
penguinpaperback · 28/10/2013 22:17

Completely agree with you OP. Smile

BigOrangePumpkin · 28/10/2013 22:43

Ha! Good old SP Grin

Morloth · 28/10/2013 22:43

I wouldn't put up anything serious on the Internet anywhere, not just MN.

SPsTombRaidingWithCliff · 28/10/2013 22:45

Never realised how poetic with words I am

ZingWantsCake · 28/10/2013 22:49

SP
that's because you have learnt from the best

Sparklingbrook · 28/10/2013 22:55

I think it's great that everyone has their own use for MN, some like to share (and sometimes share a bit much) some don't give much away but are very entertaining etc.

But I don't want to have to think for half an hour before starting a thread in case I get a sarky comment and comparing it to Syria etc. Sad
