There is some scratching in the loft.

I've asked him to put the (humane) traps up their. Armed him with peanut butter to tempt the mice/rats/mutants out.

He says he will discover the scratching is actually a murderwr and I will eventually come upstairs to find him dead in the attic. Hmm He's taller and fitter, I can't climb up ladders, I can waddle (40wks pregnant) and I think this is a good enough reason to not go up there.

AIBU?

They are very clever Grin
I heard a bag rustling once and bricked myself. Only for hamster to emerge from under fridge and wander over. Still no idea how he got out his cage, it was all closed up, no holes. So he'd got out a closed cage, out the bedroom, along a hallway and through the kitchen Shock

looks like our old hamster Thomas. Can't be though - he died of old age in South Africa. But only after making the MN newsletter when he got out and we couldn't find him (not our proudest moment...)

They also love corn - popped or unpopped, but not salted or buttered.

flummoxedlummox · 20/10/2013 20:21

Naice hamster.

YoureAllABunchOfBastards · 20/10/2013 21:22

Hamster? Fucking hell.

Mind you, DH left our loft ladder up while he had a shower today. I heard a noise of footsteps on metal.....and went out to find the cat on the sixth rung about to leap loft wards. Little bugger.

YoureAllABunchOfBastards · 20/10/2013 21:23

Definitely a hamster though. And not Rat Onna Stick.

It's the floorboards you want to watch out for. One damaged one and it could end up like that fantastic scene from 'Some Mothers Do 'Av 'em'

Lovecat · 20/10/2013 22:10

Just been reading this thread to DH, giggling (it is also his job to investigate strange noises) and he says the hamster should be called Atticus :o

QOD · 20/10/2013 22:16

Awwwwwwwwww

Annagramma · 20/10/2013 22:17

Atticus or Luther....DD1 has decided on Hammy. The rest of us have decided that Hammy is not its name. DH is madly in love with the name Atticus now.

If hamster is staying Wink a good silent (and big enough) wheel is a wodent wheel (eBay, google etc)
Mine has shavings for cage then loo roll for bedding as that fluffy stuff is dangerous. Kitchen roll tubes are good for them to chew/explore
