There is some scratching in the loft.

I've asked him to put the (humane) traps up their. Armed him with peanut butter to tempt the mice/rats/mutants out.

He says he will discover the scratching is actually a murderwr and I will eventually come upstairs to find him dead in the attic. Hmm He's taller and fitter, I can't climb up ladders, I can waddle (40wks pregnant) and I think this is a good enough reason to not go up there.

AIBU?

When I was little we had a Victorian terrace where the attic space wasn't divided up between the houses but every two houses shared one huge attic space. So your neighbours could come through into your side. Perhaps Scarlett your neighbours have found the same thing so have claimed all the space for their own?

Or, and I think this far more likely, you have the mummified remains of a previous owner who experienced his own Grudge-type ghost and barricaded himself up there.

Do be a love and pop up and have a look?

Updating it to tell you. It wasn't a murderer. It was a hamster.

Shock Hmm

No Take A Break deal for us after all Sad

We have put him (and he's definitely a him...) in the gerbil cage. The gerbils are long dead so this took some finding. Got some water. Some gerbil food. Now what?

Awwwwwwwwwwwwwww

a proper hamster or Richard Hammond Hamster.

If it's Richard H , I've got some heavy planks of wood in my shed, you could club him to oblivion...

sapfu · 20/10/2013 18:36

A hamster? A Fawlty Towers sort of hamster or an actual hamster?

Put out an apb. Some one has lost their hamster. We had one that went under floorboards for days at a time. We had to rename him Swampy.

Please name the hamster Lofty. Check the neighbours haven't lost him first.

BatmanLovesIckyBarry · 20/10/2013 18:36

Sad face with hamster in Daily Mail?

AgentZigzag · 20/10/2013 18:37

Aww, disappointed at the lack of murderers/zombies.

But heartened you've saved the little gerbils life Smile

Where's he come from??

Will someone be missing the little rascal?

LimitedEditionLady · 20/10/2013 18:42

A hamster?ok suppose thats pretty cute treasure.wouldve preferred to find bambi or summat but a hamster will do.

Annagramma · 20/10/2013 18:42

Annagramma · 20/10/2013 18:47

I'll suggest it! Grin

I'm MNing whilst DH does the hard work. This is possibly the best part of pregnancy (aside from the baby at the end), I am not currently knocking at houses in the rain.

syrian?

clearly it's a refugee

AgentZigzag · 20/10/2013 18:52

''Homeless Harry the Hamster Hid Up My (Loft) Hatch''

I'm going to be googling for that headline, you could make money with that talent Batman (if you weren't so taken up with your crime fighting skills)

Fucking immigrants sapfu, bet there are loads of hamster benefits available for him, more than a British gerbil would get Angry

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 20/10/2013 18:54

Check it hasn't got a long wormy tail and freajily long foot like paws (rat)
or no tail at all, ears like geranium leaves and freakily long back feet (guinea-pig).
Though guineas aren't famed for their Ascending into Attics and Attempting to Aquire AxeMurderer Attributes tendancies Wink

ScarletLady02 · 20/10/2013 18:58

Ilovemydog I'm too scared...

NotMeNotYouNotAnyone · 20/10/2013 19:00

Aww glad Luther/Lofty the hamster had a happy ending. Although he may now think he's a gerbil and mourn the inexplicable loss of his tail :(

ZZZenagain · 20/10/2013 19:01

a hideaway hamster! Wonder what it is been living off in the attic?

ZZZenagain · 20/10/2013 19:03

wonder how long it'll take for the others to come down looking for him

Annagramma · 20/10/2013 19:06

Just to make sure I'm right, would anyone mind taking a peek at my profile photos to double check that we have a Syrian hamster for SURE? It was a quick photo because we didn't want him to be frightened.

I want a hamster in our loft - I think it is the only way we'd get a pet.

Lj8893 · 20/10/2013 19:17

Looks like a Syrian hamster to me but I'm no expert!

That's the last thing I would have guessed to be in a loft!!

AgentZigzag · 20/10/2013 19:19

Awww, how cute is he??

Even though I prefer rats, hamsters don't do much do they?

Maybe ZZZ's right though and their pretense at being dull is just a smokescreen to distract us, and in reality there's a socially and economically successful Hamster society up in your loft

goodasitgets · 20/10/2013 19:23

You can give it tiny bits of cheese, cucumber, carrot
Check the spacing of the bars on gerbil cage or hammy may go walkies again. Give it some loo roll to shred and make a bed
Ask the neighbours if they are missing one?

goodasitgets · 20/10/2013 19:25

And yes looks like a Syrian to me

stargirl1701 · 20/10/2013 19:25
