To wonder how people feed babies this revolting stuff day in day out

Had to give a mindee a jar of food today ( mum particularly wanted her to have it).
it smelt rank and I couldn't bring myself to try it.
Little one wolfed it down though so obviously used to the taste and it wasn't "off".
AIBU to think that except in emergencies babies should be fed food you would be happy to eat yourself ( or is Heinz food particularly revolting?)

Did you mean to come across as such a patronising twat?

2tiredtocare · 20/10/2013 17:07

!!!!!!!

valiumredhead · 20/10/2013 17:07

Yeah it troubles me tooHmm

2tiredtocare · 20/10/2013 17:07

Me too

moogy1a · 20/10/2013 17:08

No. Genuinely lots of people don't understand that fruit puree isn't just mushed up fruit. That's how the makers get away with it being packed with sugar.

OP posts:
Bearfrills · 20/10/2013 17:09

Do you understand the concentrated puree thing now?

Jesus, patronising much?!

Westie, apples are apples and stew is stew. Your DC wont grow up to be an overweight delinquent because you used jars. I promise.

Commercial baby food has been available since the 1930s and widely used since the 1950s. That's a lot of babies eating 'shite from jars', yet they all seem to have done okay.

HaroldLloyd · 20/10/2013 17:16

I think 4% cornflour isn't too outrageous, not at all.

It's really coming to something to be going on about juice from concentrate.

I'm looking for all the processed CRAP and salt you keep mentioning.

Can you remember the jar you fed the child? Lets look at that bad boy.

HappyHalloweenMollyHooper · 20/10/2013 17:16

Is it a toxic or even unrecommended amount of sugar?

HaroldLloyd · 20/10/2013 17:17

Sugar is not the enemy.

WestieMamma · 20/10/2013 17:17

Sugar content per 100g

an apple - 10 g
strawberries - 4.9 g
raspberries - 4.4 g
blueberries - 10 g

my jar of baby food - 7.7 g

You're spouting complete, easily verrifiable rubbish in your determination to belittle and patronise me.

valiumredhead · 20/10/2013 17:17

Arf @ let's look at that bad boyGrin Grin Grin Grin

valiumredhead · 20/10/2013 17:18

She is indeed westie, ignore!

moogy1a · 20/10/2013 17:19

See bear you obviously don't get it. But it's hard to think how to phrase it much simpler.
Stew is not just stew. It all depends what goes in it.
Apples are not just apples if they've been liquidized, pasteurized and concentrated down.

OP posts:
2tiredtocare · 20/10/2013 17:20

So thats sugar sorted, where is all the salt coming from?

HaroldLloyd · 20/10/2013 17:22

You told us they were full of processed crap and salt. Juice from concentrate and 4% cornflour, is just not cutting the mustard.

I keep asking about the vile heinous stenchy one, it must be that one that has all the crap in it?

Was it Donner Kebab Delight?

fluffyraggies · 20/10/2013 17:23

What was the jar you had to feed your mindee OP?

hobnobsaremyfavourite · 20/10/2013 17:23

I think it could be a go-er.

hobnobsaremyfavourite · 20/10/2013 17:27

Mine would eat it breakfast lunch and dinner Harold Grin with a nice can of redbull to wash it down Wink

HappyHalloweenMollyHooper · 20/10/2013 17:29
