To take my 2 year old to the shop after 9pm to buy wine?

My 2 year old is refusing to go down for the night. I've had a bit of a shitty day. I really fancy a glass of wine. There is a newsagent 3 doors down from my house. I am tempted to put DD into her coat and buy myself a bottle of Rose (not to drink the whole thing but for a glass or two).

AIBU?

The fresh air will do you both good. Buy milk and bread if it helps

TheGlovesAreOrf · 14/10/2013 21:18

Ive done it once before, for exactly the same reasons. It was a 10 minute walk away.

I dont judge you. fellow wino

AnotherWorld · 14/10/2013 21:18

Yes. Sorry.

Sleepthief · 14/10/2013 21:18

YANBU

AnaisHellWitch · 14/10/2013 21:18

YANBU. The fresh air might even make her a bit sleepier.

Heymacarena · 14/10/2013 21:19

YABU

You should always keep a good stock of wine in the house for such an occasion Grin I likey the Lidl wines hic!!

But nah... take DD to the shop. I would (if I were ever out of stock...)

Buy some nice salted cashews too to go with the wine.

5madthings · 14/10/2013 21:19

Yanbu, a little walk might help her wind down and sleep when you get back.

cupcake78 · 14/10/2013 21:19

It's not like he has to get up for school!

FortyDoorsToNowhere · 14/10/2013 21:20

Yanbu, the fresh air may even make her sleepy

Bogeyface · 14/10/2013 21:21

I would do it, especially if she walks and wears herself down a bit.

SinisterSal · 14/10/2013 21:22

Do. Get bread and milk as well just to make it look a bit more respectable

puntasticusername · 14/10/2013 21:23

Yabu, you should have laid in suitable supplies MUCH earlier in the day ;)

Yeah, take her, if you're both having a crappy evening one of the best things you can do is just Something Different - break the atmosphere. Then when you get home dd will probably go to bed a lot more happily. Good luck!

Gileswithachainsaw · 14/10/2013 21:24

Oh go get dome fresh air. But agree with buying bread milk etc just so it doesn't look so bad Wink

I would be concerned that you feel such a need for alcohol to consider this.

What hermoine said

TheGlovesAreOrf · 14/10/2013 21:31

Hermoine really? Shes taking her daughter 3 doors down, for some wine to wind down.

She isnt strapping the poor soul to her back and marching down to the pub to get shit faced for 4 hours.

A little perspective?

SeaSickSal · 14/10/2013 21:35

The air will probably make her sleep.

Hermione, it's not like she's drinking a bottle of vodka a day, passing out on the sofa and leaving the kids playing in muck. She's having a glass of wine. Chill out.

MrTumblesKnickers · 14/10/2013 21:37

Do it. The fresh air will do you both good. Get a snickers, too.

FortyDoorsToNowhere · 14/10/2013 21:38

I wouldn't even bother getting bread and milk unless needed.

WorraLiberty · 14/10/2013 21:40

3 doors down and you're asking MN if you should go?

Dear lord....

BrianTheMole · 14/10/2013 21:40

Hell yes, I would.

Gileswithachainsaw · 14/10/2013 21:40

Don't forget the kebab and red bull for said toddler Wink
