To take my 2 year old to the shop after 9pm to buy wine?

My 2 year old is refusing to go down for the night. I've had a bit of a shitty day. I really fancy a glass of wine. There is a newsagent 3 doors down from my house. I am tempted to put DD into her coat and buy myself a bottle of Rose (not to drink the whole thing but for a glass or two).

AIBU?

It is the most stupid fucking idea we've ever come up with. We don't even have pop to fill the fizzy gap. Just Roiboos. Motherfucking Roiboos.

I am a walking middle class joke and a failure as a human being.

Libertine73 · 14/10/2013 22:02

I suggested it!? Went very quickly off it, but dp 'feels so much better' so it's stuck Angry

Sheshelob · 14/10/2013 22:04

I'd make a terrible Mormon.

InkleWinkle · 14/10/2013 22:17

I'm making the alcohol free weekdays slightly more bearable by counting Thursday as the start of the weekend.

Bogeyface · 14/10/2013 22:20

Stressed mother fancies a glass of wine = alcohol dependent slattern who would drag her child as far as it took in order to satisfy her desperate cravings.

FFS. There's always one isn't there? Aint that the truth? Hmm

Sheshelob · 14/10/2013 22:21

And if we treat every Monday as a bank holiday, we could be onto something.

as long as Tues and Wed also count as bank holidays

MrsOakenshield · 14/10/2013 22:21

oh god, I've started to do that too, Inkle, not helped by the fact that I don't work Thursdays so that's when I drag DD to the supermarket to stock up on the 'weekend' wine.

WorraLiberty · 14/10/2013 22:22

InkleWinkle our Thursday is actually Wednesday in some countries.

If you don't take that into consideration and start your weekend on a Wednesday, it's considered racist probably

I'm sure you'll do the right thing Wine

Sheshelob · 14/10/2013 22:22

This conversation is making me so thirsty.

eyes up WD40

MammaTJ · 14/10/2013 22:23

I used to work three nights a week, so couldn't drink on those nights! Now I am a student, nothing to stop me! Grin

Beastofburden · 14/10/2013 22:24

The problem with dry Wednesdays is it spoils both weekends.

Libertine73 · 14/10/2013 22:25

does that make tonight a bank holiday? (Grabs baby monitor and car keys)

Beastofburden · 14/10/2013 22:26

What's with the new emotions?Halloween Confused

MortifiedAdams · 14/10/2013 22:26

Beautiful ending Grin

puntasticusername · 14/10/2013 22:26

Op - yay! Have a nice evening. When you've finished drinking everyone else's wine, have some for me too (pregnant and jealous :p)

AnyaKnowIt · 14/10/2013 22:31

I have a two year old. I stocked up on the wine at ten this morning!

Enjoy

SanityClause · 14/10/2013 22:34

I would've told the cashier that DD wouldn't sleep, so you were hoping the wine might help. Halloween Wink

MrsCosmopilite · 14/10/2013 22:34

I would! Not quite the same but there have been times when DD wouldn't settle and has therefore been bundled out to do a late-night shop in the hope that it'll tire her out.

SomethingOnce · 14/10/2013 22:38

For a laugh, please also buy a pack of kingsize Rizla.

Sheshelob · 14/10/2013 22:38

So jealous of the wine planners.

sees mirage of a can of Fosters in living room

wishes it were a more sophisticated mirage

CharityFunDay · 14/10/2013 22:41

You could have been there and back by now. Why are you even debating this?

Lovely, lovely wine.

BaronessBomburst · 14/10/2013 22:44

I've run out of tonic, but still got gin. And ice, and lemon. What should I do? Grin Grin

Sheshelob · 14/10/2013 22:45

Shut it, winey.

Some of us aren't drinking too stupid for words and really fucking thirsty

Dontlaugh · 14/10/2013 22:46

YABU to be so blessed to have an offie 3 doors down....yy to Rizlas, I wouldn't have bothered with the wet wipes myself.
