AIBU to not find it funny?

I bought myself a really nice (I think) checked shirt last weekend. First time I put it on OH starts singing "I'm a lumberjack and I'm ok". Managed to ignore it. Wore it again yesterday and sure enough, he starts singing that line from the lumberjack song several times over the course of the morning, obviously trying to wind me up & thinking it's hilarious. In the end I told him to maybe think up an original, funny joke & that I didn't find it funny. He then got in a strop & said I should take him as he is & not try to change him. Who was in the right/wrong? Thanks in advance

it's such a boringly tiresomely predictable thing to do. Is his sense of 'humour' always as unoriginal as this ?

I got the same from my DH when I wore a checked shirt a little while ago. The first time I rolled my eyes and humoured him a bit, 2 hours later when he was still going on about it I asked him to change the record.

I wore a plain black shirt with jeans yesterday and he kept asking me when I was going to the office (apparently, I looked like a secretary). Again, 2 hours later I was sick of hearing it.

It's just over-egging it

I'm definately storing the chopper line for next time I wear the checked shirt though

I think it's almost to be expected if you buy a checked shirt, someone will sing the song and think they are the first person ever to do so. In much the same way as when I tell people I have hearing problems, some joker will think it hilarious to say "what? pardon?" to me as thought nobody ever thought of that before

The problem I would have is that singing it once or twice, briefly, might be funny. Singing it every time you wear it and for as long as it takes to get a reaction from you and wind you up would get annoying and boring.

As a teen I had a boyfriend who insisted on saying "etty-quetty" in the style of Baldrick from Blackadder and I just wanted to poke him in the eye because he said it so often. I still occasionally bump into him now and again and he seems to have moved on to 'garlic bread' and 'simples' now.

You were perhaps being a bit sensitive but he wasn't being original or even all that funny, especially if he was pushing you for a reaction rather than a laugh.

So I think him getting into a huff and sulking about being unappreciated and complaining about how you are trying to change him is the bigger problem than you not finding a joke song from 45 years ago all that funny when he's singing it to provoke you.

Mine does it too, its funny.
I dress 'alternatively' shall we say, and one of my favourite shirts I owned a few years ago had hooks and clips on the back and sides (think like the clip on the end of a dog lead). I had to stop wearing it because I'd be at the sink randomly doing the dishes and walk off only to find he'd clipped me to the cupboards etc
