Our neighbours opposite are very nice, always pass the time of day etc. When they take their dog for a walk they dont put it on a lead (another subject) as a result the dog sometimes runs on to our drive/front garden. On a couple of occasions the dog has had a shit on our drive. The owner (to be fair) hadnt realized, so i just cleaned it up and didnt say anything.

The dog had got out the other day,our neighbour didnt know, so i took the dog back to them and politley said that he was in our garden again. Our neighbour apologized and thanked me for returning his dog.

My nephew came to stay with us yesterday and went and stepped in some dog shit that was on our drive. This was the final straw, would it ub to put their dogs shit on their drive? (I know its prob childish, but have had enough!)

YWBVVU to return it. They would be upset and mortified and you would have lost a friendly neighbour for ever. Also, frankly, as you didn't see the dog do the deed, you can't really be sure of its provenance.

YWNBU to point it out to them, ask them nicely to clear it up if they think it might be their dog's (they will), and also to request that they don't let the dog run onto your front garden....they need to either train it or put it on a lead.

They are nice neighbours. Have you thought if nicely mentioning ghat their dog keeps doing that.

er, go and see them and explain what has happened and they will be more aware. like a grown up would.

Are there still dog wardens? Its actually an offence to allow a dog off-lead by a public highway. Not that anyone I'm this village keeps their dogs in Angry

minesapintoftea No, it is only an offence if the local authority have decided it should be (although the statutory powers are there) and they have to first consult and then to have notices up to alert people. It is an offence for them to be "out of control" but that can be voice control for eg a dog well trained to walk to heel without a lead.
