pat, nat, any others?

ModeratelyObvious · 05/10/2013 09:54

(That's Ian T. Sip formally, of course)

ElbowPrincess · 05/10/2013 09:54

Really not getting it.

GoofyIsACow · 05/10/2013 09:54

But it says satipn Confused

So children called Satpin have an unfair advantage because there are numerous mispelled wall posters all around them Grin

SPBisResisting · 05/10/2013 09:55

oh Ian obviously
I think what you'd gain on spelling you'd lose on pronunciation. c-v-c names are best

BuzzardBirdBloodBath · 05/10/2013 09:55

Ok, I get it. I actually read the title incorrectly. Sorry Op Blush

MarianneEnjolras · 05/10/2013 09:56

Got it.

I think.

(This is a phonics joke right?)

RunningInFlipflops · 05/10/2013 09:58

It's just such a jolly name! Grin

YouTheCat · 05/10/2013 10:03

Satpin is a lovely name but a tiny bit common these days. Grin

Jaynebxl · 05/10/2013 10:06

Hilarious! I got it straight away.

mrsjay · 05/10/2013 10:07

people who get it please explain I am obviously dim

YouTheCat · 05/10/2013 10:08

It's a phonics joke. That's the first few letters they teach.

DameDeepRedBetty · 05/10/2013 10:09

Is this something that only makes sense if your dcs are primary age? Because mine are big hairy teenagers now!

FannyMcNally · 05/10/2013 10:11

The order for Letters and Sounds is s a t p i n m d g o c k ck etc....

ElbowPrincess · 05/10/2013 10:12

I was taught to read with the Letterland characters. I loved the Hairy Hat Man.

ElbowPrincess · 05/10/2013 10:12

My kids must be taught differently ....

pictish · 05/10/2013 10:13

Ohhh ha ha! Grin

Very good. Wink

feelingdizzy · 05/10/2013 10:14

very Jolly !!

BlackeyedSusan · 05/10/2013 10:21

bastard.

snorted coffee all over

SPsTwerkingNineToFive · 05/10/2013 10:23

Still don't get it

IsSpringSprangedYet · 05/10/2013 10:23

Aaaaaaaah, I get it!

But unless the child knew how to pronounce the individual sounds and then blend them properly, then it wouldn't be much of an advantage really. Would it?

StarlightMcKenzie · 05/10/2013 10:30

Yes. If I had 5 children, I might consider calling them 19, 28, 37, 46 and 55 if Satpin had become too common.

fuzzpig · 05/10/2013 10:36

Oi! What are you saying about my boys Stan Pi and Ian Sip?

Ah but Pi and Ian would probably confuse them. Won't somebody think of the children Shock

:o

FannyMcNally · 05/10/2013 10:51

Patsi N in my class has the middle name 1020304050 which gave her the edge in Maths for a whole 20 minutes. The other parents were fuming.

YouTheCat · 05/10/2013 10:56

Confuse everyone... go for binary names.
