I think that Paul McCartney is a nice bloke and I really like him.

AIBU?

(I honestly think this. I wish he wouldn't dye his hair that awful Autumn Russet shade and I wish he'd stop doing Hey Jude all over the gaff, but he's a nice man)

YABU for thinking he's 'a nice man'!

MissDD1971 · 03/10/2013 19:45

A friend of mine went to same college as his son James. Said James played on the Macca stuff a bit but was also well known his dad was mean.

where Macca lives/lived in Surrey he was not out there e.g. doing lots of charity work/village stuff my friend said so not prominent. then again don't think i'd be that way either. and this was all when he was with Linda.

MarmaladeTwatkins · 03/10/2013 19:45

Well he SEEMS like a nice man.

Let's check out his nice guy credentials...

  1. Is a vegetarian and kind to animals.
  2. £1 Olympics performance.
  3. Does thumbs up a lot.
  4. Errrrrr.....

Tweasels - wasn't Mills a marriage to get over Linda?? e.g. what's the word? comfort/sex etc??

wonder if it's true that his family hated Mills especially Stella??!!

MissDD1971 · 03/10/2013 19:47

why does being veggie make you nice?!

ramming it down your throat selling those bloody meals doesn't make it nice... though I used to love their pies

MarmaladeTwatkins · 03/10/2013 19:48

I doubt that.

Linda had been gone a good while before he married Heather. Hardly a 'rebound' (not rebound but you know? Reflexive response type thing) marriage.

OP posts:
MarmaladeTwatkins · 03/10/2013 19:48

Because it means you are kaind to the animals. Durrrr.

MissDD1971 · 03/10/2013 19:50

oh I suppose so...

I just know some godawful veggies/vegans as characters who are not nice to their fellow humans, never mind animals!!!

WillYouDoTheMonsterMash · 03/10/2013 19:50

I quite like him. But as they age he and Pauline Collins are turning into the same person.

MissDD1971 · 03/10/2013 19:51

Yeah but why did he marry Mills? what was it about her??

was it the missing leg?!

have read too many DM articles/links about this

BOF · 03/10/2013 19:53

He was a silly vain twat to get mixed up with Heather Mills. I suppose he was pole-axed by grief though- apparently he and Linda had never spent a night of their marriage apart. For all his thumbs-aloft laid-back image, and his and Linda's vegetarian peace-out life, I have no idea how they managed to produce that surly madam Stella.

Clawdy · 03/10/2013 19:55

WHY vain??

MissDD1971 · 03/10/2013 19:55

god Stella does have a face like a slapped arse doesn't she?? but then again daddy was MEAN financially to her. she's a Virgo like me not that I believe in that star sign crap! hope I don't look like her!

ClaraOswald · 03/10/2013 19:56

He reminds me of Cliff Richard. I'm sure he can be lovely, but I'm just picking up something that just prevents me from liking him.

onedogandababy · 03/10/2013 19:57

YABU he gives me the heebie jeebies

MissDD1971 · 03/10/2013 19:57

PLease MissBOF - Marmalade said Linda had been gone a good while before he met Heather so he can't have been that pole axed by grief.

I just think he wanted to get under someone. maybe with a lady with a disability it made his charitable credentials more *saintlike do you think?!

MissDD1971 · 03/10/2013 19:58

Clara - do you think he's in the closet too then?! LOL

MarmaladeTwatkins · 03/10/2013 19:58

He isn't flashy, that's a certain. I think he made the McCartney kids live a normal life and didn't send them to private school in a chaffeur driven Bentley. I'd say it's to be commended. He came from working class stock and stayed true to his roots (a bit) instead of going all TOWIE and flashing his white bits in Marbs.

Four years between Linda passing away and Heather becoming Lady Mucca.

Not as long as I thought but still, not a rash decision.

MarmaladeTwatkins · 03/10/2013 20:01

Oh no. Now I've read Paul's last words to Linda and am trying not to blart like a wuss. :(

OP posts:
BOF · 03/10/2013 20:01

Nah, he was quite a posho for a scouser. Ringo was rough as arseholes, mind.

Ok, maybe I'm wrong on the grief thing: perhaps Linda was the sensible one and he just went a bit doolally without her good influence.

MissDD1971 · 03/10/2013 20:02

Marmalade - I did always think that he wasn't rushing things (unlike The Wail who seemed to think he jumped in her pants ASAP).

but she did really seem to want to be Lady Mucca and wasn't interested in his money/fame AT ALL etc

SoulTrain · 03/10/2013 20:04

So apart from the fact that he sticks his thumbs up a lot, dyes his hair and you don't like his music...not a lot of other substantialreasons on this thread not to like him?

I used to work with a lady who's kids went all through primary and middle school with his kids and she said he's the loveliest man. Also, the "Dad was tight" thing, Stella has gone on record as saying that that wasn't exactly a fair summary and as she has matured and accrued her own wealth she now recognises her parents approach as encouraging them to have a healthy attitude towards earning their own money. I think that's great!

I'll give you the Heather thing however...

BOF · 03/10/2013 20:04

Why vain? Because he let his ego be stroked by a much younger gold-digger.

NoelHeadbandz · 03/10/2013 20:05

Well they* say women weep, men remarry when it comes to losing a spouse. Four years isn't bad going really

*I say 'they', I mean my nana.
