...to think this woman will say anything for money?

Alex Peek - we have a new contender for most annoying female Daily Mail writer. A few weeks ago she was gleefully telling us how she has a full time nanny but doesn't work, now it's her despair at her third pregnancy.

AIBU to think this woman will say anything to earn a quick buck?

Ooh, I will have a read over breakfast when I have done the school run-looks like KH wasn't available for a stupid article about parenting today.

OverAndAbove · 02/10/2013 07:41

Well, to be fair, a lot of the things she is saying are well-rehearsed elsewhere, including on mumsnet. I doubt her third child will be comforted by her saying it all so publicly though. Not come across her before; I did assume it would be KH...

Actually I think the worst thing (I only got half way through the article before I remembered I don't read the Mail) is that her bugaboo was her "pride and joy". It's a pram FFS. It's a good pram, that's for sure. But surely it's the child inside it that's the pride and joy...

MammaTJ · 02/10/2013 07:43

Sparkling, KH not available? Is she dead then?

Well the poor woman has to do something to pay for three DCs now!

Hemlet · 02/10/2013 07:48

What a horrible woman.

kilmuir · 02/10/2013 07:50

KH seems to have a permamnebt spot on This Morning

KatyTheCleaningLady · 02/10/2013 08:55

If I won the lottery, I would have at least two full-time nannies and I would be pretty fucking gleeful about it.

KatyTheCleaningLady · 02/10/2013 08:57

Her kids are adorable. She is wearing the frumpiest dress I've seen since Susan Boyle's audition.

KatyTheCleaningLady · 02/10/2013 09:00

Why is there a zebra in her fireplace?

AndyMurraysBalls · 02/10/2013 09:02

To all people on earth

Please, please, please stop buying/reading this rag. It's the only way to stop them.

KatyTheCleaningLady · 02/10/2013 09:03

OK. finished reading. Don't see the outrage. It was a bit OTT about posh nurseries and caravan holidays, but she didn't confess a desire to feed the baby to dingos or anything like that.

KatyTheCleaningLady · 02/10/2013 09:04

Every time I hear someone imploring others to stop reading the Daily Mail, I buy a copy.

corlan · 02/10/2013 09:06

Recycling day in your house must be fun.

hackmum · 02/10/2013 09:16

Katy - dresses for these kinds of features are provided by the DM stylist. Look back at any number of these first person woe-is-me feature and they're all wearing variants of the same dress (single colour, shift).

Obviously the first bit of the article was just the standard DM clickbait - I won't be able to afford to send my kids to good private schools or dress them all in mini-Boden, even though I'm fabulously wealthy (and did I mention what a fantastic well-paid job my husband has?) but the last part, about her previous fertility history, was rather sad. I suppose most people won't get that far.

Opalite · 02/10/2013 09:26

I know I'm quite off topic but thank god they put it in the Femail section or we wouldn't be alllowed to read it, SO generous of them to give us a section and soo considerate to the men who may have accidently read about being a mum, pregnancy etc. Pfft!

IceBeing · 02/10/2013 09:28

Oh ...my...god...

what is wrong with the world?

RedWineAndCheese · 02/10/2013 09:37

Horrible sentiments really. I've no doubt they are legitimate, and given the poor woman's pregnancy history, perhaps understandable. But the wider family, all friends, all aquaintences, the schools... They'll all read this.

And later, the child will do and that kind if thing is just horrible and can really mess up a child's or adult's head. I have seen the look on a child's face when they were described as a "happy accident". No child deserves to be told they were an accident Sad

I wouldnt have written it but my god I would be mortified at an unplanned pregnancy at this point. I work pt, dh is ft on about the average wage

I would be all 'argh! money! food! whaaaaa!' but then I would smile and tell people about my unexpected delight while lying through my teeth

KatyTheCleaningLady · 02/10/2013 09:49

I wouldn't be able to hide my dismay, nor would I have a means of expressing it that actually paid money.

digerd · 02/10/2013 10:08

I think a happy accident is a nice way of putting it < DM told me dad always wore condoms for each of the 3 times she fell pregnant, while smiling delightedly>. Better than "mistakes". Suppose a happy surprise would be the best way of saying it, though.

nonmifairidere · 02/10/2013 10:14

Katy - ever heard the saying 'Stupid is as stupid does'. The DM sounds like the perfect paper for you.

Viviennemary · 02/10/2013 10:19

It's just written to provoke a reaction and get people talking. I don't think for a minute any of this nonsense is true.

CatAmongThePigeons · 02/10/2013 10:27

Sorry she had infertility issues but this will be there forever. Imagine the horror when that article is dug up and you are that child.

My eldest was a surprise but I would never consider writing such an article about how other DC wouldn't be able to go to a top prep school etc etc.

Poor her, as that is all she's worried about.

DameDeepRedBetty · 02/10/2013 10:32

This thread is already in Chat, and includes a handy copy of the article for those of us who are dedicatedly refusing to click DM linkies.

roweeena · 02/10/2013 10:39

I would read but as its in the daily mail I refuse. Still smarting from their treatment of Ralph miliband this week - just wish nobody would read their crap
