Sorry dull topic, but I end up in a rage about it every Monday night and thought I should see if its me being silly or if actually she is being a bit thoughtless.

Our bins are collected on Tuesday mornings, majority of people put them out the night before, they aren't allowed to be put out before 7pm,
AIBU to think she should put them out before 11pm and that 11pm is too late for making such a lot of noise?

Every week without fail she does it at 11 or just after, she drags them down the passage between our houses and makes so much noise (sometimes it can be 3 bins) it wakes me and DS (2.9) up every single week. DS starts crying as the noise levels are quite startling and it takes me ages to settle him again, I am sure she must be able to hear him crying.

I am reluctant to mention it to her, as I think she might take it the wrong way and we do normally get on, but she can be a bit funny about things and has fallen out with other neighbours over various things.

I know in the great scheme of things its a minor problem, but it really annoys me!

Ahh its nice to get it out!

If you're watching out for the sound every week you'll hear it louder. Stop thinking about it. I'm suprised your 2.9 year old hasn't got used to the sound by now.

I put my bins out about that time. Unless its empptying glass bottles etc then yabu.

I would tell her that it's waking DS and ask if she would mind doing it before 8pm (or whatever) when possible - it can't hurt to ask.

I'm going to have a little rant to a) get it off my chest and b) hopefully make you feel a bit better about your neighbour...

I have just about given up on sleep...

There's a restaurant and a 'corner shop' across the road (at the front of our house), so of course there's the noise you would expect from those (kids hanging about the shop/restaurant goes departing and saying good bye as is they may never see one another again or arranging their next 'meet up' in that slightly drunk way you do) & fair enough, they were there when I bought here and I totally accept the noise from the customers/kids etc but I do find the inability of the restaurant owners to leave quietly at 2am, fucking annoying - there is just no need to slam the door (it can & is shut often enough in the day?!) or shout to each other or clean out their car or do fucking gardening (metal tools on concrete, dragging pots around etc) at midnight/2am

Oh Chipping that all sounds awful, very welcome to come and stay at mine on a Thursday, you would only be woken twice from bins and ds, so would be a good night for you!

only if you are going to try and disguise who you are by changing certain elements of your story then you must remember what info you have changed Grin I assume your bins are really emptied on a Friday morning Smile.

Br grateful you don't live in Spain. My experience of staying in residential areas there is that the refuse is emptied in the middle of the night presumably to avoid the heat of the day. The dogs bark, the wagon screeches as it tips the rubbish and the men shout to each other at the top of their voices.

Blush I always was crap at lying. Was hoping no one would notice bah!

Oh well if she does read it, she will know what I have been thinking but that I am now not going to silently have the rage any more and just accept it!

Only Grin I might take you up on that :) On a Friday night when the people leaving the restaurant are particularly joyous!!

I used to live in Spain, in an area where it was always noisy at night - I didn't get any sleep at first but eventually you get used to the constant clapping & yowling noise, but this... it just gets lovely and quiet ... then some other twat is making a noise. The thing that gets me, is that to all outward appearances it is a 'naice' are and one that 'looks' sleepy & quiet???? It's not a bloody high street or overbuilt space.

BBB - yes - I'd forgotten about the rubbish too - those HUGE BINS!!

YANBU, it's very inconsiderate. Some of our neighbours do this between 10 and 11 and it makes a hell of a noise when all around is quiet.

I put mine out just after 7 and then if anything needs adding to it I drop that it later (in silence)
