AIBU?

To not want nor agree with fucking douching or moisturising MY OWN Vag.

I can't go anywhere nor watch TV without being reminded that I 'Should' be doing one of/both and I'm getting slightly pissed off with this severely outdated information.
Dr's recommend it here Shock Half of pharmacies are taken up with feminine products such as Provag gel - moisturiser for your vagina (WTAF?) and floraVag - to purify your vagina Hmm I'm getting leaflets in the mailbox and even got given one on a visit to the cinema ffs!
Final straw today was in the pharmacy - the assistant asked if I'd like to buy some on promotion so I told her I didn't use it and didn't want to cause myself thrush and she looked at me like I'd just told her I ate newborn babies Confused
If my translation of language would have allowed I'd have also informed her that my own Gynaecologist and GP both advise against using anything other than gentle soap on the outside - so thank you very much but my vag is capable of cleaning itself, is clean and hygenic, doesn't smell and I manage perfectly well without FloraVag.

And as a bonus, Parvati, it gives you lovely blonde pubes!

Thanks to Binkyridesagain's suggestion, I now know far more than I need to about male chastity belts...

The midwifes ran me a dettol bath which I had about an hour after giving birth. I had some pretty nasty damage but it didn't hurt. I remember thinking it was a bit random but I was in a state of shock since a human being had just come out of me!

In Italy these products are everywhere and heavily advertised. They even advertise handy single-wipe packs for when you're out and about! There's one lovely ad for a product called 'Chilly'. They think we English are v wierd/dirty for not having bidets. I use ours in Italy for stacking magazines in and cleaning DS's teeth.

Sorry Tabby maybe I should have put a warning up with the suggestion. Most MNers have learnt that you NEVER google anything suggested on here, so I can't take all the blame.Grin

Right, Skoda, I can't find anything at home or that I trust on the internet. I'm not due back into work for another couple of days but I'll ask some one there and report back.
Good lord, Minifingers I'm quite far away from being an expert.
The prevailing opinion is that pubic lice are on the decrease, yay! One of the factors involved is possibly the rise of the brazilian.
However, we know that waxing and shaving make wee wounds in the skin that can make it easier for warts and herpes to be passed on and these can be a bit harder to treat than lice.

I first read this as douching or moisturising your own veg. Was expecting a discussion on Olay or Nivea for those carrots and beans.

On the vag front no special treatment from me. Shower gel on the outers - never had a visit from the thrush fairy.

I use a couple of capfuls of dettol in the bath every so often. I epilate my legs and it stops my skin coming up in a rash. But it also makes my fanjo feel better if it is a bit sore during my period.

I have however, recently come to the conclusion that my fanjo is only sore because the sanitary towels are scented. Since I started buying unscented ones, I am not so itchy and sore!

Binky, have emailed DH with link to the google page, suggesting that Santa may get him one for Christmas hahaha!

He's now wondering what the hell I'm getting up to on mn :D

All these people who find that scented towels make them itch- is this more likely if you have waxed? I have a theory that waxing makes the skin more likely to get itchy and sore, non-waxed people don't have the same experience.

This is not something I can easily check out, say at work... You are m,y only hope.

I was told not to by a doctor as it destroys the natural flora and you just end up with thrush. She said it is not necessary and damaging.

The tampon in natural yoghurt as someone said earlier worked for me and my room mates in college. Not the same tampon btw!

I used to slather natural yoghurt on my fanjo when I had thrush. Worked a treat. Same good bacteria in it as caneston

I'm 47 and have never had Thrush despite a year of prophylactic antibio's for UTI's some time ago.

I don't use heavily perfumed anything when washing my undercarriage but nor do I use nor require these products that seem to be predicated on the idea of the Female genitalia as producing some kind of toxic smelly battery acid that must be controlled less it take over the World.

I don't use any products but I still get thrush - so if people are suggesting that thrush is linked to use of products, please desist!

I only got thrush once when a partner used condoms during sex and I wasn't quite 'ready' so it irritated
