I ordered my daughter a dolls house today from an on-line shop (well known). I thought it sounded like a brilliant deal - £70 and included in the description
" Features:
There are 4 themes of furniture supplied with this dolls house - bedroom furniture, living room furniture, bathroom furniture and dining room furniture. These can be arranged into multiple configurations so your child can have a new dollhouse each time they play with it."

Now, was I wrong to read this as that it comes with the furniture? It says 'supplied with this dolls house' in the above, which surely can only mean one thing?

I received it today and no furniture and looking on line I see they are charging £24 extra for the furniture and dolls for the house as a separate item.

I have put in a complaint as I feel the language is very misleading and have asked for what is stated as included, as far as I can see, on the original description. AIBU?

OK, I have uploaded it to tinypic. What now? Can I share it on here?

This should work!

pictish · 01/10/2013 16:11

Yes...it very clearly stated that furniture is supplied WITH the doll's house!
I hope you get your dues from the shower of bastards!

MalcolmTuckersMistress · 01/10/2013 16:12

That absolutely, DEFINITELY, gives the impression that all those things are included. It's stated under "features" and clearly says "supplied with"

Terrible service from ASDA. They are just utterly bloody awful!

Gar, making a right hash of this!

Do you think I should send this thread to the email the ASDA lady gave me on the phone? I'll send the letter recorded delivery too, just wonder if it might speed things along a bit?

MalcolmTuckersMistress · 01/10/2013 16:16

Go for it! They're completely to blame here and perhaps they will see the error of their ways.

LittleprincessinGOLDrocks · 01/10/2013 16:17

Argos Dolls House - That is the one I bought DD (though it was an unfinished wood colour when I got hers not pink) and it was fantastic, came with all the furniture and 2 dolls included and it has survived both DC playing with it daily for nearly 4 years. For £39.99 - so yes I would expect the Asda one to come furnished!
I hope trading standards sort it for you.
I had an issue with an ELC order once, as items had been incorrectly priced - where a toy worth £28 was mixed up with a £7 one. I rang them after my order arrived and it wasn't what I had ordered ( a toy worth £7 arrived - but I ordered a £28 toy that was listed as just £7), they sorted it, sending the £28 toy without upping the charge for me as it was their error. That is good customer service!
If ELC can do it why can't Asda?!

Wheresmycaffeinedrip · 01/10/2013 16:18

Go for it. There's no way that you could interpret "supplied with" wrong. It's in features , not extras and I read it exactly the same way.

It clearly states it's supplied with.

DameDeepRedBetty · 01/10/2013 16:18

Why on earth did it turn into a LoveFilm advert???

Before dissolving into an advert, I could clearly see 'supplied with' and absolutely no mention of extra charge for furniture.

Hope your local TS takes them to tiny pieces OP!

Was already boycotting them but will happily spread this one round.

ScarerAndFuck · 01/10/2013 16:19

I really don't see how they think they can claim that when they said, in writing on their website, "there are 4 themes of furniture supplied with this dolls house" they really meant "the furniture is sold separately and cannot be supplied" and expect to get away with it.

They listed the furniture under features as supplied with the house, how would anyone read that as available to buy separately and not supplied with the house?

If you still had items outstanding on your order it stands to reason you would expect the furniture to come with those outstanding items as it wasn't with the dolls house.

Asda / Asda Direct are being very shoddy with this, not surprised you are raging OP.

Sockywockydoodah · 01/10/2013 16:21

?

5madthings · 01/10/2013 16:23

Cheeky fuckers, it clearly makes out the furiture is included and now they have changed the wording of the listing!

As an aside I am getting my dd the toys rus one with furniture as it's a fab price and I have friends who have it and have recommended it.

needasilverlining · 01/10/2013 16:24

Do it!

Asda, if you read this: you've been caught bang to rights and if this woeful customer service is considered acceptable by you, I, for one, will be avoiding you like the plague...

LazyMonkeyButler · 01/10/2013 16:25

[email protected]

CEO's e-mail address. Someone from his department will reply to you and, IME, you will get a hugely different response from the one the "Customer Services Department" give you.

Asda are a complete and utter bag of shite TBH. But an e-mail to the address above (linking this thread) should help.

Lioninthesun · 01/10/2013 16:25

Exactly. Further annoyed by ASDA making a lady who's native tongue isn't English try to argue about their descriptive language errors. Why couldn't Mimi the Manager call me herself?
Clearly nothing with ASDA is actually a bargain; two cheaper and better alternatives already on just one thread!

Absolutely send them a link to this! I'll happily tweet a link too if you want.

They have admitted guilt by editing the description.

KatoPotato · 01/10/2013 16:29

Happy to share a link on twitter. can anyone remember the previous asda hashtag we used?

Asdaruinedmyday or something?

Catsize · 01/10/2013 16:30

Pretty sure you wouldn't prejudice anything by sharing the original screenshot. After all, it is a website that was accessible by all, not a love letter!
Would be pretty rich of Asda to say it somehow compromised your claim when it was their own website!

LazyMonkeyButler · 01/10/2013 16:31

I think there may have been more than one Kato. On one occasion it was #ASDAARESHIT.

GlaikitFizzog · 01/10/2013 16:32

Yup asda ruined my day was the hashtag for the undelivered not refunded grocery shop.

I no longer used asda for my main shop (only in emergencies and usually only milk and bread which are loss leaders so I'm costing them money in theory) because of their terrible customer service. This is what happens when a big conglomerate take over a household name.
