dd1 is 18 days old, i am breastfeeding and when she isnt feeding she is asleep.

I have managed to get up, get dressed by eight, go out and shop chores etc in between feeds and cuddles and the nice stuff.

the past 2 days dd has wanted to be cuddled and fed constantly and doesnt want to be put down and gets a bit fussy on my boobs...

I feel a bit out of control....

I also cant be bothered to move unless i need the loo or nappy needs changing.

I feel slovenly..but its o.k isnt it just to sit here with her curled up on me, eat ice cream and one finger type on mn and kiss her head? will she ever be put down again?

should i be doing something?

Wish I'd done exactly what you're doing. Enjoy. Am a bit jealous. X

You had a baby 18 days ago, of course YANBU. Oh and congratulations! Flowers

humphryscorner · 28/09/2013 22:10

Ah i loved that time! I got up and out about 8/9 and then got on couch all day. Loved it loved it. Dozing and feeding. Now I have a wriggling little queenie that needs entertaining constantly, enjoy it while you can! it wont last!!!!

Doyouthinktheysaurus · 28/09/2013 22:20

YANBU , enjoy every single moment, it goes all too quickly!

My 'babies' are nearly 11 and 9 and have spent most of the day bickering! They are wonderful and I still sneak cuddles and kisses when I can but.....oh, those baby days seem so long ago!

Selks · 28/09/2013 22:30

OP why do you think it was that in 'ye olden days' new mothers had a 'laying in' period? It was so they could rest up, spend the days feeding and bonding with baby and not knacker themselves with all the normal chores and housework.
YANBU. Chill and enjoy your baby. Smile

SigningGirl · 28/09/2013 22:42

I did, and still do this, mine is 8 months. YANBU!!

YANBU to do exactly what makes you and your DC1 happy. Go out if you want to go out, stay in bed all day if that is what makes you happy!

I went through days where I didn't get dressed and days where I wasn't in all day! I liked the variety but the days with tv, chocolate and sleeping/feeding baby are ones you don't get back!! Smile Smile

enjoy!

YANBU.

PFB is 2 next week and I was out every day with her and the dog, then trying to vacuum and wash clothes etc whilst she was a clinging feeding monster. After about 4 months I told DH I would have to do the chores in the evenings (as she cried when I put her down), he didn't care anyway and told me to just spend time with DD !

She was poorly last week and I relished the 2 hours she lay on me on the settee snoring, it was lovely Grin.

Enjoy busy days and sofa days drinking tea and watching Bake Off, suddenly they are 2 years old and you have to chase them for a cuddle Grin

(am so looking forward to going on Mat Leave again in 6 weeks to be more chilled out this time)

CocacolaMum · 29/09/2013 11:48

YANBU, if I could have 1 day with dd back to being a baby I would not move from the sofa :)

Of course it is ok! This is what the early day should all be about!

will she ever be put down again?

All too soon. Enjoy her.
