An acquaintance is pregnant and is paying a marketing agency to choose a name for the baby, given a list of 'brand values' that she would like them to use - so, things like: intelligent, artistic, adventurous, interesting, influential. She's not secretive about this at all, by the way.

The agency's work will also help her and her DH design the baby's bedroom and toys etc.

I've never heard of this before. She's from the States, so perhaps this is more commonplace over there? Her DH is Welsh. Maybe this is big in Swansea?! I honestly think this is barking, but perhaps I'm out of touch (I'm about to become a gran, so it's a while since I've thought of baby names!)

Oh and namechanged in case the woman realises who this is. Pombears, naice ham, wolef etc!

I can't remember what she said the name of the agency is. Maybe Helen something, but apparently it's a top, global branding one. It's not my area, so I'm not sure. It must be costing a fortune!

That actually trumps an acquaintance of mine who met a new mum at a baby group, thought they were getting on well, so asked to exchange numbers. Mum #2 said 'sure' then handed over a card. DF said 'thanks ' and mum #2 said, 'oh no, that's not my name, that's the baby's name. So much easier for her to have her own card and phone, don't you think? Especially when nanny will start taking her out and about.'
