It's bound to be out by then. Never keen on her, but also sorry for her sons having her life raked over again.

If someone bought that for me I would think they really don't know me at all.

ItIsKnown · 20/09/2013 16:34

I wouldn't want it but would LOVE the Kate and Wills one. Grin

MrsCakesPremonition · 20/09/2013 16:40

From what I've heard of the film, it is a fantasy with very bad dialogue. It seems unfair to imply it has anything to do with Diana at all - it's not her fault that the film got made.

Darkesteyes · 20/09/2013 16:41

My mum worshipped Diana when i was a kid and i do mean WORSHIPPED....still does. Shes got pictures of her and William and Harry as kids up on the wall.
Always chastised me for my weight when i was younger and held Diana up as the example of the perfect girl/woman.

Because of this i grew to hate her when i was a teen. But as i got older i realised how unhappy shed been. It was my DM at fault not her. It did flit across my mind to buy this DVD for my DM for Christmas. But i wont because.
a. i think the film is in poor taste.
b. i really dont think i could take all the "Oh wasnt she wonderful Doesnt she (Naomi Watts) look like her" on Christmas Day. I could do without those 1980s flashbacks.

LittleAbruzzenBear · 20/09/2013 16:49

ItIs that looks hilarious in a so bad it's good way.

ZingWantsCake · 20/09/2013 16:54

I don't expect to be given it.

if I was, perhaps I would sell it on Ebay. collection only - so I can judge the buyer in person

btw it is easy for me to remember when I came to England for the first time.
I flew the day after she died.
I did go up to Westminster Abbey with a few friend to ogle at celebrities.
my first time in London and not a single red bus in sight?! v. disappointing

RedPencils · 20/09/2013 16:56

The Wills and Kate one was a work of absolute genius.

I havent seen the Diana film and wont seek it out. Perhaps Naomi watts thought this film was going the way of The Queen and the Kings Speech.

who buys 'videos' these days? Grin Grin

HarpyFishwifeTwat · 20/09/2013 19:11

Why did Naomi Watts want to do it?

Meryl Streep as Thatcher, Helen Mirren as The Queen and Colin Firth as the King all have something in common...

ohmymimi · 20/09/2013 20:23

OK, Andthats, I'm changing my nn to 'dinosaur'.

mrsjay · 20/09/2013 21:03

I saw a clip today and it looks bloody awful really terrible acting and Princess diana comes across as a drippy moo, I really dont want to see it I was never a fan of hers and nevr that interested in her life either, I can remember the Royal wedding and people oooing and ahhing she always seemed over hyped to me,

mrsjay · 20/09/2013 21:04

The Wills and Kate one was a work of absolute genius.

it was amazing I think this film will be cringy though or probably should have gone straight to true movies Grin

Alisvolatpropiis · 20/09/2013 21:20

Yanbu. I was 8 when she died. I think, ageing things up, I thought she was a whiny arse attention seeker. Didn't get the en mass mourning then and certainly don't get the way she is being turned into a saint now.

ItIsKnown · 20/09/2013 22:31

With the usual disclaimer of feeling terrible for her children I can safely say I felt physically sick on the day of her funeral. Nauseating.

I used to take taxis a lot in those days and the radio would be endlessly playing from Aladdin.

I went on a first date with a guy the day after she died. He sat sobbing over his curry.

Never saw the twat again.

Whole thing was completely and utterly OTT - and this country has not been the same since.

No, I don't want the DVD for Christmas either. YA-definitely-NBU.

AlannaPartridge · 20/09/2013 22:40

Best thing about this film (tenuously) was Naomi Watts making a prat of herself on Simon Mayo's show Wink

HarpyFishwifeTwat · 20/09/2013 22:58

I liked Diana, I thought her death was sad but by the day of her funeral I could not get "Oh What A Circus" from Evita out of my head.

Darkesteyes · 20/09/2013 22:59

Todays celebrity culture can be traced right back to the obsession with Lady Di/Princess Diana which began in the early 80s.

Amy106 · 20/09/2013 23:19

No, I don't want that for Christmas either.

ZingWantsCake · 20/09/2013 23:24

I'd rather watch the DVD then read "Princess Diana" one more time.

she was never a princess. why can't people understand that?
