To speak to the school?

I've just been to collect my son from his school and he's told me that he won't be cast in his school Christmas play but all the other children will.

I am fumming. I am going to go and speak to his teacher first thing tomorrow morning but I am so angry that I can't work out whether I'm being reasonable or not.

Oh, this is fabulous. I don't want a hamwidge if you've been fumming thanks.

Orchwoid · 18/09/2013 17:29

Hello. I went to the teacher and the headteacher and explained about God and assemblys but the headteacher said I'd sent a letter and I did send a letter but not about the christmas play and I said that. He said that my son could be in the christmas play as a shepherd but I dont want him being a god part because that is against my religion which is atheistical. I left because I was so angrey and cross and the headteacher and the teacher were not being very kind or listning. I wanted Louise to come but she wasn't by the block pavving and it was her who said to come here.

mitmoo?

Kumiho · 18/09/2013 17:32

"atheistical"? Oh, just stop it.

Are you hoping they'll write a new 'atheistical' play all about your son, perhaps?

SoupDragon · 18/09/2013 17:32

So, you don't want him to have a "god part" but you want him to be in the nativity play which is all about the birth of the son of god?

You are beginning to sound more unbelievabley nutty as this goes on.

JamieandtheMagicTorch · 18/09/2013 17:33

Oh give over

SoupDragon · 18/09/2013 17:33

And how the fuck is a shepherd a "god part"?

NewNameforNewTerm · 18/09/2013 17:33

shepherd = god part Confused

JamieandtheMagicTorch · 18/09/2013 17:33

If you are intelligent enough to be an atheist you are intelligent enough to fake your spelling mistakes better.

GoofyIsACow · 18/09/2013 17:34

I NEVER EVER LOL but I just did!

SoupDragon · 18/09/2013 17:35

If you are intelligent enough to be an atheist

I'm not sure she is

BehindLockNumberNine · 18/09/2013 17:35

OK, the last post really really does give away that the OP is in fact a 14 year old troll!!

Step away now people...

exexpat · 18/09/2013 17:36

Sharon, is that you?

TheOneWithTheHair · 18/09/2013 17:36
Grin

That is all.

impecuniousmarmoset · 18/09/2013 17:39

ilovesooty no, indeed ofsted aren't impressed, but that makes no difference does it?! It's still our local school. It's a naive question because while it's lovely and high-minded to think that all state schools are accommodating and welcoming to all faiths because ofsted mandates it, in practice that is not how things work. Not even close. And no-one up high really cares anyway - Gove is apparently quite happy with extreme religious lunacy taking hold in UK schools (www.theguardian.com/education/2012/jul/17/creationist-groups-approval-free-schools)

And cjel just because churches were first in on the act does not say anything about why they should still, in this day and age, be getting a substantial amount of taxpayers money to provide an education which actively excludes substantial numbers of its catchment, with no alternative provision available.

impecuniousmarmoset · 18/09/2013 17:40

Clearly on further evidence, OP is a loon, but some of us are trying to have a serious conversation here Grin

YouTheCat · 18/09/2013 17:41

I may have just pee'd a little at the update. Grin

LynetteScavo · 18/09/2013 17:42

I would cast your DS as the donkey.

That is not a "god part".

NewNameforNewTerm · 18/09/2013 17:43

Or the camel (with a hump)

BrokenSunglasses · 18/09/2013 17:44

Is being an atheist a religion now then?

Orchy, what part did you want your son to have?

PlumSykes · 18/09/2013 17:47

I am gutted-GUTTED- that this is a troll. Amused, none the less, but gutted.

peppersquint · 18/09/2013 17:47

The inn keeper - he turned them away

TSSDNCOP · 18/09/2013 17:47

Out of curiosity, and absolutely against my better judgement, may I ask what arts in the nativity you deem NOT to be "god parts".

DamnBamboo · 18/09/2013 17:50

The celebration that occurs at that time of year, although now colloquially known as Christmas, was never about Christ. I am seriously shocked at the number of people who appear not to know this.

My husband and I are atheists and we celebrate the season and religion has nothing to do with our celebrations at all.

OP, if it is a church school - then it is likely to be a nativity.

If it is not, then it may not be, not all school christmas plays are.

Either way, participating in it will make no difference in the long run.
