Saw her on Alan Carr Chatty Man last night....So bloody annoying. And why does she insist in sticking her tongue out in every single picture taken of her ?

maybe me saying against her will was a bit dramatic but I honestly think this is what miley thinks is edgy and sexy it isn't

FWIW i agree with your sirchenjin she doesn't need to act the way she does sex sells but she isn't sexy she looks ridiculous and desperate sex has always sold music it isn't a new thing, I also feel the same about Rhianna I just wish she would stop with the skimpy outfits blah blah

That video started off nicely, just her cute face.

Then she started giving the hammer a BJ and well, ruined it all.

Calm down folks, I don't think the OP actually wants to take a needle and thread and actually stitch her mouth closed. I do believe she is talking metaphorically.

I love her hair though! I wish I was brave enough to have mine the same.

Misogynistic ? I don't think my OP was misogynistic, it wasn't meant to be anyway, I was just trying to get across how bloody annoying I find the tongue thing. I would find it just as annoying if it was a male performer who constantly did this.

A violent image, ok I'll give you that. I probably didn't word my OP the best way. (Was having a bad morning yesterday !) And I would never inflict physical harm on anyone...how about a wee bit of superglue ? That would probably do the trick....

samu2 - Yes I've heard a lot of people saying she isn't pretty enough for that cut or she doesn't suit it but I think she really suits it.

(see, I can be nice sometimes Grin)

The record companies aren't to blame. They only put out what an artist provides them with. They aren't going to tell someone like Miley what she must do.

Having said that they would have been delighted with what she has done, because everyone is taking about her.

Oh yes nasty way of putting it OP, bearing in mind that used to happen to people.

Some sort of tape is a much nicer image in my head.

She was awful on Chatty Man. She said the word 'crazy' about a hundred times when asked about herself. 'oh, yeah! I am just sooooooo crazy'

She came across as stupid and immature.

...Her chicken bum made me laugh though Grin

WELL EXACTLY attention is attention, and she was number one for weeks so she is doing something right

I think she's a very talented person who has gotten herself into tereffic physical shape. I also think her hair is fab. However, I think its really sad that she (or her management) feel the need to have her portayed in such a cheap and tasteless fashion in order to make the most of her talent. I completly get the need to be seen as a more mature artist and not Hannah Montana but think they've taken it too far. I like the song wrecking ball but the video is horrendous and tbh, kind of stupid!

I was also a bit worried about her shiny PVC trousers, she was going to be a right Sweaty Betty after wearing those. It would be like preforming in a ziplock bag. Yuck!

It's her voice that really grates on me. No emotion, no different pitches. It's is sooooo dull and monotone.

Really? And you think she isn't constantly under pressure to sell her music or raise her profile?! She knows exactly what is expected of her, and if she doesn't deliver there is another young woman waiting in the wings for her 15 minutes of fame.

I can't believe I'm spending my Sunday morning discussing Miley Cyrus?! Blush

YABU she is entitled to do whatever she wants to boost her career and the last few weeks have certainly given her plenty of press attention. Also why should Miley Cyrus care about other peoples daughters perceptions of sexuality, it is none of her concern

The record companies aren't to blame? For real? So the likes of Simon Cowell etc are sitting there politely, having meetings and wearing modest suits, then a twenty year old woman barges in and demands that they make the songs and videos she wants? And they do it?

Is this really how anybody thinks the mainstream music industry works? I'm picturing the young artiste getting her tongue and boobs out etc, while the producers of the videos, shows etc tut tut with disgust but feel compelled by their twenty year old boss to continue filming and airing the images on prime time telly despite thinking it is just awful.

Give me strength.

She certainly can do what she wants, it's a free country. However, I don't want my children growing up in a world where this kind of behaviour is normalised. I see the issue not in terms of whether or not she should be able to boost her career but rather, do we want careers to be boosted on the basis on how shocking or hyper sexualised young women can portray themselves, or would we rather see them boosting sales based on talent?

No, that's a very naive view of the a record company.

Most people working in them, including SC are not in any way creative. They sit on their arses pretending to be very busy, looking through stuff brought to them by managers and A and R people. The vast majority are pretty much finished products. The record company just puts out the product.

Do you really think artists such as Madonna, Lady Gaga etc just think of what the the record company will like, when they put things out?

No, their main concern is the media. It's TV and press that sell records, not Record Companies.

Exactly my point - if a pop star can get their profile raised then it's more money in the record label's bank account. Do you think for a minute they are holding Miley back from her mission to become the most tweeted person on earth?
