Saw her on Alan Carr Chatty Man last night....So bloody annoying. And why does she insist in sticking her tongue out in every single picture taken of her ?

"I feel very sad for her"

Me too, because she's probably surrounded by "yes people", or her perception is genuinely skewed, or she's just copying someone else.

Really don't understand this tongue thing at all. Kerry Katona and Jordan both used to do it a lot. All it does is make them look stupid. It's a thing that only little kids used to do, sticking their tongue out. That one that won Big Brother last night was doing it. Pathetic , stupid and immature.

TondelayoSchwarzkopf I agree. Something very nasty about that image. I find her wildly annoying but she is entitled to stick her own tongue out however irritating that is. I'd take her antics over Robin I'm a fucking misogynist Thicke any day.

She's a 20 year old pop star FFS! How do you think she should behave?
'20 years old' means she is an adult and should behave as one.
'pop star' is not an excuse for such childish antics - quite the reverse in fact. She should understand that children might (misguidedly) look to her as an example.
Far too many children are encouraged to inspire to be brainless 'celebs' instead of learning to be responsible adults.

But what constitutes adult behaviour? She has earned more money that I am ever likely to, has a thriving career and knows how to maintain it. She is not obliged to set a good example for the children of people she hasn't met, and if she wants to enjoy being young, rich and popular then I don't see why she should shoulder any more responsibility than she needs to. I don't see how she is encouraging children to be a brainless celeb - she is enjoying immense success in her chosen field at an age where plenty of people are still living with their parents, studying full time or job hunting. There is nothing about being a 'celeb' that makes it impossible to be a responsible adult as well. What would you have her do?

I would have her focussing on promoting her talent rather than her tits.

I get that Miley is a bit wild just now, but I think that in a few years time she'll have settled down again and maybe move back into singing country.

Her Backyard Sessions are stunning, as is her version of You're Gonna Make Me Lonesome When You Go, she has a brilliant voice for country music.

DD2 loved Hannah Montana and Miley to the extent of calling one of our cats Miley Smile

Oh god - you mean we've got a few more years of her acting like a prat?

She's producing shite that I don't want my daughters to see, she is normalising thus weird hyper sexuality which mskes little girls think they have to be 'sexy' to be popular.

I couldn't give a shit about her ' growing up in public' trials and tribulations. She is an over privileged young woman and frankly I'm far more worried about my 3 little girls growing up around this stuff.

And as an adult popstar I think she should act with some integrity.

Totally agree with sallyingforth, Sirchenjin and ubik.

and charlotte that won cbb last night is another one.

I can't see the problem with her. I think my daughters know their own minds enough to not want to be her, while still enjoying her songs. I watched Chatty Man and thought she was good.

SirChenjin · 14/09/2013 23:21

How old are your daughters Bumpotato?

I completely agree Ubik. I loathe this oversexualisation of the pop industry, with young women selling themselves short in order to flog their music and raise their profile by flashing their tits, while the record labels rub their hands (and god knows what else) as the money comes rolling in.

FFS, isn't it about time that society stopped this obsession with sex and focussed more on growing talent?

HalooJones · 15/09/2013 01:39

She's an idiot, as is any pop starlet who thinks they have to flaunt themselves in order to prove they are an adult. She can't have much faith in her musical ability is all I can say.

"stitch her mouth closed"? Niiice. What a lovely image, not at all violent or misogynist.

StHelenInPerson · 15/09/2013 08:11

She has a good voice although the licking sledge hammer bit completely lowers the tone and doesn't fit with the song.

There's being sexual and there's being distasteful, she is distasteful.

I think the word misogyny is being bandied around far too much these days. The title of the OP is quite violent and unpleasant, but it's not misogynistic.

is what i think of miley I have a dd who loved hannah montana and then her singles as miley now she just thinks she is and i quote nasty so her image isn't rubbing off on all girls , I just wish MIley would sing a song and get on with it I don't really know what she is hoping to achieve with this aint i so sexy and naughty image, attention i suppose,

The misogyny lies at the door of the record labels who pimp and objectify young women in order to make a fast buck.

Report
mrsjay · 15/09/2013 08:56

\DO we really think Miley is being exploited and doing things against her will she isn't she is having a blast loving the attention and probably annoying her dad in the meantime, she thinks she is shaking off the Hannah Montana which she is but she looks a bit of a twit doing it, thing is she has a decent voice she could sing great songs and do videos without licking hammers and touching girls boobs

Agreed the record labels are at fault!

I think "stitch her mouth closed" says more about the OPs personality than Miley's...

My view on the overt sexuality and nudity.. its only used when songs are crap and unremarkable...

Report
SirChenjin · 15/09/2013 09:15

I don't think she's doing it against her will - but I do think that she has been brainwashed (as many young people have) into thinking that you have to be overtly sexual (hyper sexual as someone upthread said) in order to attract attention. In some ways I find that more concerning that if she were doing it against her will - the insidious sexualisation of just about everything has normalised it to such an extent that in order to sell music and raise profiles of pop starts the boundaries have to be constantly pushed.
