caroldecker · 01/09/2013 12:04

wouldn't be without mine - first piece of kitchen equipment I bought.

Moetlovermuvver · 01/09/2013 12:10

Can someone explain to me why they are so amazing and what they do? Circa £300 seems a huge amount to spend on a mixer! :)

AnneEyhtMeyer · 01/09/2013 12:20

They are amazing. Every time I use mine I love it a little bit more. So powerful, so solid, so reliable.

My mum is still using hers that was a wedding present over 40 years ago. My Gran died before her Kenwood died.

Isoscelesnorks · 01/09/2013 12:35

I waited 20 years for mine. It's bloody good. Now I'm getting old arthritis is a problem I can still cook nice things. Whipped up a pizza base in 5 mins today, that would take me a very long time to kneed by hand these days.
Next on the list is building up my attachments collection for it!

Brilliant machine..

LRDMaguliYaPomochTebeSRaboti · 01/09/2013 12:57

moet - they just last a very, very long time. They are also nice, but financially the main thing is you don't have to keep replacing them.

LJL69 · 01/09/2013 12:58

Please get it. I was given mine as present from my mum and dad and love it like another member of the family xx

EastwickWitch · 01/09/2013 13:01

Mine was 60 years old when it died. I inherited it from my Granny & I know how much she would have loved how much I used it.

twistyfeet · 01/09/2013 13:04

My mum had one when I was growing up. I wonder what she did with it...

LRDMaguliYaPomochTebeSRaboti · 01/09/2013 13:06

Yep, definitely worth starving your DH.

They should go on sale after Christmas, btw. I got mine as a 'Christmas' present given on the understanding it'd be bought in the sales.

TheFallenNinja · 01/09/2013 13:07

Go, now, buy one and enjoy THE fluffiest Angel Delight (butterscotch) ever.

issey6cats · 01/09/2013 13:13

have a look on ebay i have sold two of these recently and they went for around £30 despite being vintage ones they were still in full working order with all the utensils and liquidiser they really are good

Forgetfulmog · 01/09/2013 13:17

YABU, get a Kitchen Aid instead Smile

MrsAMerrick · 01/09/2013 13:34

Kenwood is far superior to a KitchenAid! I've used both and whilst the KA looks beautiful, the kenwood is just the best mixer ever. I was very lucky and got mine as a present, and wouldn't be without it. If you can get one on ebay/second hand then go for it - they last forever. You will not regret it.

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 01/09/2013 13:37

I'd love a KitchenAid (in cerise) to look good on my kitchen worktop, but I'd use the Kenwood more often, I think.

krazipan · 01/09/2013 13:43

Why would you get a kenwood over a kitchenaid? (genuinely interested)

LRDMaguliYaPomochTebeSRaboti · 01/09/2013 13:46

I expect I'm the only person ever who thinks Kitchenaids don't look as nice.

AmandinePoulain · 01/09/2013 13:51

I've got a Kenwood Prospero, it was far cheaper than the Chef (it was around £100 on special offer from Amazon, Sainsburys regularly have them on offer too Smile) and it does everything I need - it has a mixer, whisk and dough hook; as well as a blender and food processor with all the various bits. It doesn't look as pretty as a KitchenAid admittedly but it still looks nice enough on my work top Smile

twistyfeet · 01/09/2013 13:52

I am looking on ebay and having fantasies

OP posts:
AnneEyhtMeyer · 01/09/2013 14:08

Kenwood is superior to Kitchenaid - substance rather than style.

Also, I afree with LRD, I think Kitchenaids are not as good looking. They look too twee to me - they are the twigs and pebbly shit of the kitchen.

NannyR · 01/09/2013 15:29

My kenwood was my housewarming present to myself when I moved into my flat a couple of years ago. I use it most days. I've bought the ice cream maker and the mini-grinder attachments. I use it to knead dough, make cakes (it makes brilliant fatless sponges and fluffy buttercream), I grind coffee beans, blend up soups and smoothies, I use the processor to chop and slice veggies.
Whilst it would be nice if it came in different colours like a KA, I actually like the look of it, it looks good on my work top.

twistyfeet · 01/09/2013 15:34

I rang my mum and she cant remember what she did with the Kenwood of my childhood.
