there is a gig i wanted to go to, very close to my home ( walking distance) and cheap. Im a lone parent, so dont automatically have anyone to drag along with me to these things. I stuck a ' does anyone want to come to...' on my fb and then added a comment and named those who i thought it might be there thing, so they would see it.

Someone commented saying i looked desperate.

that was a bit shit i thought, and until they said that i didnt think anything bad of it......

Not desperate at all. I would probably message people rather than post 'publicly' though. It is indeed easier and more convenient than phoning round. My book group organise stuff like this all the time. Delete the comment, unfriend the commenter.

Mia4, that particular FB 'friend' of your sis also a prize knobber.

Yuck, what a creep. Why on earth would you look 'desperate'?! Just be safe in the knowledge that someone's who's happy and secure in their self doesn't say petty, mean crap like that.

WinkyWinkola She is indeed, I'd defriend her except her mother is lovely and a great family friend and I know she-fb would give her mother merry hell if I avoided. We did have a laugh knowing she's pretty much snubbed us then came desperately crawling when no one else was better.

Examples of desperate:

Oh, will someone please come with me to X, I feel so alone, I really need to get out and you're twats if no one comes with me. I'll pay for the tickets, meal, drinks, transport, whatever you want.

And:

You look desperate.

Supposedly they are all your friends on FB so no different to sending out a mass text, it's just that everyone can see it. Take no notice.
