To hate parents like these?

Went out with dc today, a safari park with theme park rides and every fucking time we go somewhere like this there's always a kid or several crying their eyes out on a ride while their parent forces them to go on, I always feel so sorry for the kids and feel like slapping the parents.

Weird, I am kept so busy minding my own kids that I barely notice what others get up to. Must be nice to have children who are so undemanding that you can take an interest in others.

I've seen this once and fairly recently - dad was yelling at kid to toughen up and stop being a wuss as he dragged him onto the pirate ship ride. My dd1 (5) loved it but this boy was similar age and cried the whole time. He was then forced to go on it again as he "needed to get a grip" according to his mother who then laughed watching him cry again - I was stood next to her as dd1 was on it again by choice with dh and I stayed to take pictures (Completley hate rides like that that make me feel sick). I found it very strange parenting and did feel sad for the boy.

At the fair the other day dd2 (5) wanted to go on the twister (she went on last time with my dad) Dd1 (9) was scared. I persuaded forced her to go on it and she cried (quietly) all the while we were waiting for it to start. Once it started she was laughing her head off...me not so much. It'd been a while since i'd been on and forgot how fast it was! Dd1 has not stopped going on about it since and wants to go on again (not with me though Wink ) As parents i think most of us know what our kids can handle.

I sort of did this and then felt really bad!

At the funfair and dd (7:5) has always wanted to go on a proper roller coaster, she and her friend went on this awful wipe out ride and then wanted to go on the roller coaster.

In the line she got nervous but as she's the fearless sort of
Type I didn't pay her any mind and told her not to be so silly and get on. Well she came off crying her heart out where she got so scared Sad should of took her out the line really but least she has stopped going on about bloody roller coasters.

I love roller coasters and water shoots, DDs have just never got the option to be scared. The only exception being very very very high water slides, which DD2 and me both sometimes give a miss.

Timid DCs are a sodding nuisance both on family holidays and at school. DD2 has a DF who is afraid of her own shadow who drives me mad.

Only once have I judged-

At centre parks rapids (which have serious currents top and bottom and lose contact lenses in between) tiny girl in armbands being shoved on in floods of tears despite the no arm band sign. Just why?

They hadn't had to wait in a queue it's easy for parents to take turns and a non swimmer would be scared the whole way down and terrified in the whirl pool at the bottom.

StarBall, I think I'd judge in that situation as well.
