AIBU to have said to these two children who were stood by DD's trampoline

That
"It works better if you get ON it!"

The looks of joy on their faces! Grin

I live in a block of flats with a huge communal garden. DD's trampoline is right outside my kitchen window and I encourage ALL the children to use it and the adults

I could hear them saying 'but we don't know whose it is, someone might shout at us!'

So I said the above and told them it was mine
Can now hear squeals of joy!

Their dad came over and told them to get off
So I stuck head out of window and told him it was mine and I was fine with it. Told him to have a go too!

And HE DID!

The roars of laughter from these two small children as Dad had the time of his life will stay with me for a long time.
That trampoline is now a very happy trampoline
I rang DD and told her and she laughed too!

So. Was I BU?
Grin

BrevilleTron · 19/08/2013 20:58

Not me thebody
The trampoline. it's magic
I told my lovely neighbour to use it as much as she wanted and I've seen her DC on it several times after following his mums expert example

It seems to have somehow kicked him into waking at 7 instead of 2am

I now have a friend for life!

I opened this thread expecting it to be a typical MN petty complaint about the horrible neighbours. How nice to read such a lovely post instead.

You're a good egg, OP. Smile

BrevilleTron · 19/08/2013 21:18

All my neighbours are lovely so so lucky

Even the one I shouted at for waking DD up
(There was a row going on, on the landing at 3:00am one night so I yelled up the stairs that I was going to call the police if it didn't stop)

She came down and spoke to me a week after and explained it was her cousin who was drunk and it was me shouting that gave her the push to kick him out.
She is also lovely.

The flat next to me was discovered to be a cannabis farm about a year ago. The whole flat had been converted for growing and the bloke was just sleeping on a filthy mattress in the bathroom.
I had a look after the police had gone and it was awful.

but strangely there were NO rows at all for about 6 months in the whole block. We just couldn't work out where the smell was coming from

When my neighbours on the top floor use the garden I let them come in and use my loo save them trekking up four flights of stairs.
It's lovely here.

Gosh I cried reading the OP. I think I may be a bit hormonal today Blush

MrsTedMosby · 19/08/2013 21:21

That's lovely! We let our neighbours kids (and their cousins and friends) use our trampoline too. There's a broken fence panel between our gardens and all the kids play together. It's really nice, and I love having such great neighbours. Grin

thebody · 19/08/2013 21:52

bloody hell. trampoline is magic 😄

lovely thread.

5Foot5 · 19/08/2013 22:07

You sound a fantastic neighbour.

Can I suggest one more "rule"?
No going under the trampoline while it is in use.

Sounds weird I know but neighbours son went under a trampoline while someone was bouncing on it and had his arm badly broken.

BrevilleTron · 19/08/2013 22:10

It's a good rule. Never seen a kid do it as its all overgrown underneath. Normally they are too interested in bouncing on it but I will bear it in mind. Thanks for all your suggestions it's nice to know others are safety conscious Smile
