I purchased a bargain rolled shoulder of lamb earlier in the week, just the right size to feed the four of us. I got the butcher (supermarket) to cut it into two pieces.
Dh and Dd only like lamb in the slow cooker with the gravy. I much prefer roasted and slightly pink. Ds really likes both.
Hence the two pieces. So one went in the slow cooker. The other smaller bit in the oven with the potatoes and parsnips.
Family member had asked what we were having or dinner and I said. She tutted and said it was very extravagant and a waste to have two joints.
I went
and changed the subject.
Now clearly, because I am on Mumsnet too much, I am DETERMINED to work out why this was extravagant, but I can't. Admittedly by using the Slow Cooker too I used a tiny bit more electricity. That's it.
It was the same size piece I'd use or the four of us in the slow cooker, or in the oven. Initially family member was
when I told her what the lamb cost. Till I told her I'd chopped it in two.
So, if you are still with me, and not glazed with boredom can you tell me my offence please?
Thank you
