daisychain01 · 20/08/2013 16:50

Mmmmm nom nom nommmm

daisychain01 · 20/08/2013 16:51

Sorry I got totally carried away and forgot to say YANBU. Marble cake is exceedingly good ( said like Mr Kipling) dunked in cappuchino Grin

MisselthwaiteManor · 20/08/2013 17:00

YANBU, it soaks up the tea much better than a biscuit

RoastedCouchPotatoes · 20/08/2013 17:05

Mmm, I need to try this!

Sleepathon · 20/08/2013 17:12

Mmmmm yea yea yea

Buttery jammy toast is avoid dunker as well

Sleepathon · 20/08/2013 17:13

A good not avoid!!!

NumTumDeDum · 20/08/2013 17:15

Depends on the cake IMO. Jaffa cake - yes. Dunk away.

Sponge cake, no. Cream cake, definitely no.

What about sponge fingers - they're a cake hybrid surely? I reckon they have dunkability.

bigTillyMint · 20/08/2013 17:22

Hmmm. I wouldn't, but that's not to stop someone else trying!

ZingWantsCake · 20/08/2013 19:12

numtum
dunkability is a brilliant word.
you are quite a wordsmith!Grin

Emilythornesbff · 20/08/2013 19:35

morethanpotatoprints surely a macaroon is a biscuit.

zing desperate to see you on DD. bet they can't resist.

OP. feel a bit queasy about it myself. Each to their own.

Cake
daisychain01 · 20/08/2013 23:18

Now we could get into the debate about whether Jaffa Cakes are a cake or a biscuit ....

Emilythornesbff · 20/08/2013 23:22

Officially cake.

Blush
Rummikub · 21/08/2013 14:51

I have bought Madeira cake which I suspect will have a good dunkability index. In the interests of science of course.

morethanpotatoprints · 21/08/2013 16:10

Emily
Ha, I thought I'd throw that one in for debate.
Don't they go hard and stale so are a cake? I'm not sure though. Then is it soft and soggy for a cake?
I've never dunked a cake, other than a Jaffa cake.

Emilythornesbff · 21/08/2013 21:43

morethanpotato bang on. It's all about condition during staleness Grin
A Cake is soft when fresh relative to its hard stale state and conversely so for a Biscuit

Not enough ppl care about these real issues. Grin

Thesebootsweremadeforwalking · 21/08/2013 21:49

YABU. It should be coffee, not tea.

Catypillar · 21/08/2013 21:53

YANBU

Sounds disgusting but it's your cake and your tea, do what you like with it.

morethanpotatoprints · 21/08/2013 21:55

Theseboots

Oh so common, coffee? Whoever heard of dunking anything in coffee. Oh you have such poor taste. Go and sit on your hands. Grin
It has to be tea and biscuits, not forgetting the raised pinky.

Thesebootsweremadeforwalking · 21/08/2013 22:02

Nope, definitely coffee, and preferably ginger cake. DH despairs Grin

VerySmallSqueak · 21/08/2013 22:05

YANBU to dunk it in your tea.

Just bloody stay away from mine.

ZingWantsCake · 21/08/2013 22:06

rummi you are such a self-sacrificing hero!

is your war cry "they can take our lives, but they can't dunk our Cake"?
(or such - it needs work)

Ems I'm wondering if mug net should be disposable or reusable...

also I wonder if it would eventually clash with MN - all it needs is just one idiot saying "mugsnet". hmmm...

ZingWantsCake · 21/08/2013 22:07

morethan

Shock back off you heathen!

brioche dunked in coffee or hot chocolate is definitely delicious!

lostblonde86 · 21/08/2013 22:28

Couldn't dunk cake, would get to messy, having said that I've just had to go and bake a cake after reading the post Smile

youarewinning · 21/08/2013 22:31

Muffins dunked in coffee is the law on Sunday morning!

Or new trick my friend taught me yesterday yes we are both in our thirties! Bite the end of chocolate fingers and suck tea/coffee through it and then put straight in mouth - pure heaven Grin

whattodoo · 21/08/2013 22:37

Surely a slice of Victoria sandwich wouldn't fit in the teacup? A finger of flapjack, maybe.
Or do you have a special wide topped cup for tea dunking? Or drink out of a bowl?
