to be considering selling my soul to the devil?

Am waiting for q Court hearing as Council flat is being repossessed (long story ... moved in with Mum to be her carer and the property has already been succeeded once). Desperately looking for a one-bed flat to rent privately but can't find any LLs who are willing to accept benefits. Just bidder on a one bed apartment in a newly built private block (a percentage is given for social housing). It has a HUGE fitted kitchen, wood floors throughout, en-suite bathroom and are selling for £380K.

Am seriously considering summoning Old Nick and signing my name on the dotted line ... in blood.

I'm not entirely sure either what you're asking or what your AIBU really is. Not clear from your post. However I wish you good luck for everything sorting itself out!

Selling soul to devil? How does that actually work?

lottieandmia · 15/08/2013 23:44

Though I have seen the interview where Bob Dylan appears to admit selling his soul to the devil in return for success.

TheTurdsOfMisery · 15/08/2013 23:46

Yes how DOES it work. I'm guessing you have to make the first move? Is he on Twitter? Facebook?

ClartyCarol · 15/08/2013 23:47

I thought it was Robert somebody - "crossroads". Blues fella?

OP are you saying you're bidding for a 400k flat?

Regbooboo · 16/08/2013 00:14

TheTurdsofMisery : The selling of one's soul, to any particular entity, requires no more than an exceedingly simplistic process...devote yourself to that individual. Many believe that there's some drastically complex method in which you must engage in, some dark ritual that binds you for all eternity...but all it really takes is a pact, your honest and willing devotion to the being in which you want to own your soul. I'm going to try Twitter first.

ClartyCarol: Yes, unbelievably one beds £380K and 2 and 3 beds around £500K, not sure what the penthouses must go for! Situated in a new development with concierge and gym (with lengths pool) and only 8 mins from Canary Wharf on DLR.

I want it and am off to find a razor blade and some parchment ...

Does that mean thousands of girls have sold their soul to One Direction and the like? Becausw your description of that process sounds like it Reg Grin

Tbh, I'd sell my soul happily, those flats are the costs of big houses in some areas, but....

DrDance · 16/08/2013 01:18

errm? well if you think it's that's simple then go ahead. Good Luck

DrDance · 16/08/2013 01:20

ps I hope you are joking because if your being in the slightest bit serious you obviously have no idea of what you would be getting yourself into

DoJo · 16/08/2013 01:56

What would the OP be getting themselves into if they aren't joking? Do you mean selling their soul or bidding on a flat?

Bullygirl · 16/08/2013 03:30

OP yabu! Don't do it. It sounds like a good idea now but after you've lived a good and full life it the lovely apartment with the gym and the concierge you will be thrust into the gates of hell to burn for all eternity. You will be a servant of satan! Is that what you want op? Well? Is it?

Bullygirl · 16/08/2013 03:31

Morloth · 16/08/2013 04:34

Souls are worth way more than 380k.

ravenAK · 16/08/2013 05:30

Depends on the condition at point of sale, surely?

I just accidentally clicked on a Daily Mail link. That's got to have taken 5% off the market value of mine...

LondonMan · 16/08/2013 12:19

I watched a couple of "How to get a council house" series, there was a woman in your (our) area who was going to turn down a half-million pound brand new flat (social rent something like £150 per week) because it didn't come with a car parking space. (She later changed her mind. Tower Hamlets has for a long time had a policy of not allowing new developments to have parking spaces attached, this applies equally to the people who actually shell out half a million of their own money for the flats.)

lottieandmia · 17/08/2013 16:54

Surely the reality of what you're suggesting is committing yourself to a live of evil deeds much like Dorian Gray?

You could always just do some work for the mafia, then you'll have evil deeds and money for it it any case Wink but seriously, you're kidding right?

lottieandmia · 17/08/2013 16:55

Solari · 17/08/2013 17:15

I used to date someone for not very long who was seriously into magic rituals, and summoning what he described as demonic entities with which he would either enslave or make pacts with (his description, I'm unreligious). He also met regularly with a group of people all into the same thing.

I don't know if DrDance is referring to something similar, but I read the OP as quite tongue-in-cheek and not an actual attempt at such a pact.

LessMissAbs · 17/08/2013 17:23

Theres a percentage of social housing in the new development I've bought in OP. The majority of residents had to get mortgages I think. Rather than signing your soul to the devil, would it be possible to get yourself in a position to get one of those? I've checked though and while the average monthly rental privately is £900-£1000 per month (probably because its an area with a lot of well paid jobs and blessed with high employment levels), for exactly the same houses classified as social housing, the rent is £400pm.

Arisbottle · 17/08/2013 17:26

I don't understand .

LessMissAbs · 17/08/2013 17:32

Am waiting for q Court hearing as Council flat is being repossessed (long story ... moved in with Mum to be her carer and the property has already been succeeded once)

I think this means the council flat has been sublet more than once from the original tenant and the OP is not being allowed to take over the tenancy.

CerealMom · 17/08/2013 19:13

Could be worse. You could be selling to Boris...

ArtisanLentilWeaver · 17/08/2013 19:19

Remember that your sold soul can be taken back any time so whilst you may get the flat, the Hounds of Hell could remove you before you drank that nice housewarming Prosecco.
