She is 6 and I think she would love it but its going to be chilly and quite a faff. Her dad already got her up last night but it was cloudy Confused so far it's looking clear and tonight is the peak!

If that's what you want to do then do it. I might wake my son too.

I used to be woke if it snowed early hoursGrin

fuzzypicklehead · 11/08/2013 23:24

Go for it! (and I love your name, OP!)

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 11/08/2013 23:26

Why not? I'm not going to with my DCs to as I am already in bed but she probably would like it. We went out to watch the international space station go by a couple of nights ago and they were fascinated. Might depend what time you need her to be up in the morning though.

numbum · 11/08/2013 23:28

I thought it was tomorrow night??

deliasniff · 11/08/2013 23:30

I heard it was tomorrow night as well!

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 11/08/2013 23:32

Peaks tomorrow night I think, but it is nice and clear tonight.

SwedishEdith · 11/08/2013 23:32

If you know she would love it then why not? But, they do come every year so I'd wait until she was older probably

Rummikub · 11/08/2013 23:33

Where is it?? Is it visible from anywhere in uk?

Tortoise · 11/08/2013 23:33

Is it only 2am that you can see them?

BumgrapesofWrath · 12/08/2013 00:00

My 2 year old always wakes without fail, might go out in the garden with him and watch as well

ProtegeMoi · 12/08/2013 00:04

Anyone seen anything, nothing here :(

WorraLiberty · 12/08/2013 00:05

Well what does she want?

Has she expressed any interest in it?

Tortoise · 12/08/2013 00:05

Just looked outside but its a little cloudy.

DisgraceToTheYChromosome · 12/08/2013 00:34

Saw about 4/5 in 10 minutes around 2330. Now it's cloudy.

Last saw them in Switzerland when DD was just a bump.

MariaLuna · 12/08/2013 00:42

Thanks for that link Swedish. I had heard of it happening.

You don't need telescopes or cameras, just a deckchair, blankets and a hot thermos to keep you company.

Can't I just look out of the window?! Grin

(inner city, no garden here).

conantg · 12/08/2013 01:36

Just saw six or seven, looking out of the window due east.

Hulababy · 12/08/2013 01:37

Saw these last year in a pretty rural place in sw France last year. Was very clear skies and absolutely no light pollution going on. Loads and loads of them in such a short period of time. Was an amazing sight. Dd enjoyed them too.

BlackeyedSusan · 12/08/2013 01:44

inner city, flat faces west Envy

MissWimpyDimple · 12/08/2013 02:09

I should have said, also inner city flat. Was going to take her out in the car so it's a bit more epic than just popping to the garden.

Anyhoo... Set alarm so here I am but it's cloudy Hmm DD can slumber on...

I stuck my dressing gown on, made a hot chocolate and went out after posting here, definitely saw 1, possibly a couple more out of the corners of my eyes, I was wearing glasses which give me limited peripheral vision compared to contacts, it was slightly cloudy as well. Will try again tonight.

LottieJenkins · 12/08/2013 07:56

My late Dad used to wake me up in the night when foals were born at home. He used to tuck me up in his PK Recliner chair which was exciting. The headmistress however always knew without being told because without fail I would fall asleep at my desk the next day at school!

littlemog · 12/08/2013 09:50

Lottie that is so lovely! I am going to be out there tonight trying to see them tonight. V.exciting.

snooter · 12/08/2013 10:06

We saw a couple on Friday night - hoping for more tonight - I think it's a great idea to get children up to see this sort of thing - I remember being dragged out of bed to see a fantastic rainbow when on holiday in Wales aged 5 or 6 - late evening heavy shower around 9.30pm - still memorable

SconeInSixtySeconds · 12/08/2013 10:32

Ds stayed up to watch the International Space Station last night - it moves so fast! I was Shock
