to be annoyed with my dh for writing shopping lists on post-it notes when we have a ton of scrap paper in the house?

A ton of scrap A4 paper ... and if I had my way we would be saving old envelopes for the purpose.

Meanwhile, post-its are a precious commodity which cost £££.

IKIANBU!

What do you use post-its for though?

starfishmummy · 09/08/2013 19:44

Ya(sort of )nbu. Post its are not suitable.

Everyone knows that shopping lists should be made in a dedicated handcrafted notebook using your best handwriting in fountain pen.

3birthdaybunnies · 09/08/2013 19:45

YABU - he's managed to write and use a shopping list - don't you have a medal for him still bitter that dh forgot my stuff but managed to spend loads of money on finest organic overdraft inducing fodder

3birthdaybunnies · 09/08/2013 19:46

strikethrough fail

ImperialBlether · 09/08/2013 19:46

I think you're being unreasonable. You can get post it notes in Poundland, can't you?

How many is he using ffs?

The advantage of them is that you can always see the amongst other pieces of paper. And they're nice and clean. And pretty.

CaptainJamesTKirk · 09/08/2013 19:47

Life is far too short to get worked up about this. At least he's writing a shopping list, when my DH goes shopping he buys half the shop and forgets the milk.

BeesGoBuzzzzzz · 09/08/2013 19:49

But post it notes are just more fun, they make any small writing task seem more enjoyable. YABU, to attempt to deny this tiny bit of happiness.

ImperialBlether · 09/08/2013 19:49

Who buys the post its, anyway?

SanityClause · 09/08/2013 19:50

YANBU! Post it notes are expensive!

Fairylea · 09/08/2013 19:51

It could be worse.

I asked my dh to write sugar on the list today.

He wrote a separate letter on each piece of A4 paper andleft them spelling sugar across the work top with the list tucked underneath.... He thinks he is funny.

IloveJudgeJudy · 09/08/2013 19:52

YANBU. We write our shopping list/s on scrap paper always. Much easier to read as you can write bigger and not so "scappy" and easily lost.

Bumpotato · 09/08/2013 19:52

If that's the worst thing your DH does YABU.

He could be like my DH and take the list on scrap paper ha to the shops then ignore it totally. He even tried to tell me Sainsbury had run out of loo roll once rather than admit to not consulting the list.

Fuzzysnout · 09/08/2013 19:53

YABU post its are colourful and fun. Scrap paper? You are a fun spoiling meanie!

CouthyMow · 09/08/2013 19:53

Blush I write my shopping lists on post-its...

(I am the queen of post its though, I even have different colour pads for each purpose!)

HollyGoHeavily · 09/08/2013 19:54

Post its are perfect for shopping lists because you can stick them to the handle of your shopping trolley leaving your hands free as you go round the supermarket. YABU, your husband is a genius....

Yika · 09/08/2013 19:54

YABU, post-its are one of the joys of modern life and have a multitude of purposes and applications.

LillyofWinchester · 09/08/2013 19:55

Have you heard of he phrase 'pick your battles'? The phrase was coined for situations exactly like this. At least he writes a shopping list.

MelanieCheeks · 09/08/2013 19:55

Well, post-it notes aren't really ££££. True, they're more expensive than the scrap paper lying around, but are they really more than about 1p apiece?

I think you could probably find something more expensive to get annoyed about.

Jbck · 09/08/2013 19:58

Can't believe it took till post number 16 fir someone to make the sticking to the handle point.
I also stik them on the outside of my purse if Ive just run in with that alone.
I also stick them on the ash so I dont lose said list on the way to Tesco.
YABU. My first btw.

paperclipsarebetterthanstaples · 09/08/2013 20:04

Ffs - if my DP tried to ration post it notes I'd leave him and take the bloody post it notes with me and he's tighter than my knicker elastic!

marriedinwhiteisback · 09/08/2013 20:05

Minty - after a year or three of being married my DH asked where sainsburys was when I forgot my purse. Yours is at least trying. I se post-its - work post its! Do you think you and my DH could be kindred spirits with your old envelopes and recycled bits of paper? There is no satisfaction in writing a shopping list on an old envelope - far more rewarding on a crisply folded brand spanking new sheet of pristine A4. He likes his pants ironed though, a fresh (ironed) hanky every day and his socks folded not rolled. But he loves a reused envelope :)

Jbck · 09/08/2013 20:05

Clearly the sticky stuff has addled my typing brain however Grin

magimedi · 09/08/2013 20:06

YABU.

He writes a list. WTF does it matter where he writes it? (As long as not in marker pen on the wall.)

ImperialBlether · 09/08/2013 20:06

Here are some for £3.47 for 450 post its.

I want some now!

McAvity · 09/08/2013 20:11

Why on earth would you pay money for post-its? Did your work run out or something?
